Review: KYB AGX struts

Review: AGX adjustable struts made by KYB Performance: They're great. I kept the stock springs and merely replaced the worn-out OEM shocks. The car is much more responsive now, a world of difference. It hugs the contour of the street (instead of feeling like it is flying all over place). They got th...

Nick,

Where did you get your skidplate? Does Lachute make them for Legacies? All I saw on their site was skidplates for 2002+ Impreza

By the way, awesome pics!

MY rally legacy

And here's mine. It's not quite as bad-A as PRT's, but check it out:

I agree - clutch. Luckily, you should be able to diagnose this before you have to dish out for parts. It should feel exactly as if you are driving around with the clutch pedal partly down. Hey, you can even do that if you want to compare how it behaves (bad vs. worse). You may be able to quick-fix t...

AGX settings survey

What settings has everyone found best on their AGX's for maximum performance? How about on the stock springs, in particular? Any recommended tuning techniques? Signs that tell you are overdamped or underdamped? After a late night of swerving like mad through Baltimore's parking lots and ravaging pot...

Problem fixed! For reference: Without those conical washers, the spring seat was pushing and dragging on both the inside and outside races of the ball bearing - preventing it from spinning. This made the steering sorta hard  . Now, those conical washers are in place to take all the force from ...

Both of you have give good reviews, but you both have seriously upgraded suspension. Does anyone know whether it would make a noticable difference for people with setups closer to stock?

That is amazing. A Subaru in it's full war paint. When you drive around, wear your local colors: orange clay, black dirt, grey gravel dust. It is so right that I think they should come from the factory that way. The same way Levis makes jeans "pre-faded", Subarus should come "pre-mudd...

Bleeding master cylinder necessary?

I managed to empty my brake fluid resevoir and pump air into the master cylinder. On these Legacies, do I have to bleed the master cylinder now? Or will the air work it's way out if I keep bleeding the four calipers over the next couple weeks?

I searched through archives on a lot of forums, and couldn't find much consensus. Subaru says that the *circumference* of each tire should match within 1/4". Convert that to tread depth (radius) and that's 1mm. That is absurd in so many ways that I won't even bother ranting about it. But, no bo...

How about a "reviews" forum?

How about a seperate "reviews" forum? Just my two cents: I always liked that i-club had a seperate forum for reviews of aftermarket parts, dealers, and brands that I can search through and vent in. I hate to nit pick about this site, because I am a big fan of these forums already and appre...

fact vs. fiction? wheels must be same diameter on AWD

I'm sure this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find anything in the archives. I have often heard you can have differential problems on our cars if you run tires that aren't the exact same diameter or drive too far on a donut. I understand completely, but I've never heard a common-sense answer to how much of...

I suspect that you are right and those washers in the picture are the problem. I thought I was careful to reinstall them in the exact same place, but I must have been wrong. It looks like I have them below the upper spring seat (sitting on the shoulder of the damper shaft) and they are visible from ...

Strut replacement problem

Hey guys, I replaced my struts with KYB AGX's this weekend, and they feel great but I have serious issues on the fronts. The backs are great, but I need help. The problem is the ball bearing joint in the front strut top mounts. This is the bearing that allows the struts to steer along with the wheel...

Although, I've heard one impreza part that doesn't transfer to the Legacy is the rear sway bar, because Legacies have a bigger bulge for the spare tire or something like that.

Look around the popular Subaru performance parts dealers online. Here are some that list other Whiteline parts for Legacies online. http://www.mrtrally.com http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/index.htm If the problem is that you see parts listed for newer generation Legacies only, instead of our BC-BF'...

dim headlights

Same for me. The plastic is all yellowed and hardly any light gets through. I can't see much on the highway at night. Somebody once told me to polish them with a toothbrush and toothpaste, but that sounds rediculous.

Suggestions please?
