How do you properly reassemble the rear seat?
It's a n00b question... yes, I know. But when I had Patti, I took apart the rear seat, and I never got it put back together properly ever again. I could never get the hook on the cushion back on the hook on the seat back properly, so the cushion would always collapse whenever someone sat in it. I ne...

Re: 1990 BC5 RS Type RA
It's interesting how the bumpers look the same as the US cars (at least as far as I can tell). The front bumper on my car is considerably different.
Do you know if it has absorbers and bumper beams?

I don't know any Northeastern roads. The two famous mountain passes I've driven on are the Tail of the Dragon and Mulholland Drive in California.

Mountain Passes
Yes. That's the most popular driving road in the Southeast as far as the Subaru crowd is concerned. The NASIOC guys go there multiple times a year.
It's definitely an entertaining road, and it can be your demise if you underestimate it.

1986 Subaru GL-10 Leone TURBO
As far as I'm concerned, you now have the most desirable 80s Subaru in this hemisphere, if not the world. There are other STi-swapped EA Subarus out there, but none of them look even half as clean, thorough, and tasteful as yours. You really did an awesome job. I hope I get to see it in person one d...

Transmission growling in neutral. Input/output bearing?
That's the pilot bearing. There's still a main input shaft bearing at the front of the transmission case.

Re: South east (FL, GA, AL, NC, SC, TN) meet date & time TBA
Wow, another thread that's older than some of my friends' children! I honestly think that there's not enough active Southeast members for a LegacyCentral-only gathering. It's probably best just to join in with NASIOC. As much as I hate saying that, the runs up to the Tail of the Dragon have be...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
1st-gen power steering pumps are the only Subaru power steering pumps I've ever handled that did not have electrical pressure sensors in them. Even a PS pump I took off an old EJ18 out of a 93 Impreza had a pressure sensor on it. That might be entirely coincidental, but I've never seen anything in t...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
One other thing I've wanted to say, now that I've owned this car for a while (two years already!), is that the BE/BH chassis Legacy has ultimately supplanted the BC/BJ/BF as my favorite Legacy. I loved Patti to death, as you all know, but I've faced facts and accepted that there were a few things th...

Re: 2.5D swap or Franken motor
I don't work at the Subaru dealer anymore, so your VIN won't help me much. But that's interesting, like a factory Franken-motor from Subaru themselves :) That kinda fits into the theory that me and my parts manager used to have though... that some Subarus occasionally get blessed with goodies from t...

Re: ME Magazine Gasoline vs. Diesel Engine Article
Plus, that's more chances for other inefficiencies to leech some of that energy. I'm just guessing here, but after that surplus energy goes into the battery, and then into the electric motor, and then into the wheels, I would imagine it wouldn't be much more efficient than an ICE hybrid. Steve, I'm ...

Yes, yours is dual-port, so those flanges will mount up to your heads. However, the BD/BG Legacies had cat converters that were a separate piece from the manifolds. Your cat converter is part of the whole manifold setup, so you will have to ditch that and convert to the newer-style cat converter if ...

Re: ME Magazine Gasoline vs. Diesel Engine Article
Yeah, that makes sense, Josh. I understand what you're saying. I also agree with Steve that there is a threshold of 'over-competence', if you will, where the effort to make an engine as efficient as scientifically possible isn't necessarily worthwhile in a real-world application. However, all that s...

I would definitely roll in this, and dare I say... I'd even leave it auto.
Were I still in my days of wanton financial irresponsibility, I would definitely buy it.
Good luck selling it... I hope someone from this forum buys it.

Yeah, this article is ignoring a bunch if new technology that's actually already been in service in passenger vehicles for years. I honestly believe direct injection is more than incremental. For example, the Hyundai Sonata/Kia Optima Turbo is running a 2.0L DI turbo engine that makes 274hp... ... o...

Timing is done, car won't start.
Glad to hear you got it running again. Just for reference for anyone else that comes across this thread in the future... on these engines that aren't interference, there's no harm in starting the car and letting it run for a few seconds right after you've put the timing belt on. That way, you can be...

I still think it's your timing. The fact that it was running fine before you changed the timing belt is a big red flag. Legacy777 or somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the ECU looks for matching signals from both the cam and crank sensors in order to fire the coil. So, if your timing ...

If the engine was running fine before you did the timing belt, and now it won't start, chances are the timing belt isn't lined up properly. If it makes you feel any better, I did that exact thing on my grandfather's old 93 wagon. I used the arrow mark on the front of the crank sprocket, not the mark...

Re: Radiator Cap
That I have to disagree with. If your car is actually making enough horsepower that a lack of cooling system pressure is causing it to overheat (which I doubt), then yes, you need a high-pressure STi radiator cap. But if you don't have that problem, then all a high-pressure radiator cap is going to ...
