I have my turbo rapped with DEI stuff, without the spray you were talking about, and it keeps the underhood temps very low. I can actually put my hand on the rap around the turbo without getting burnt. The "kit" i bought came with header rap also, but it is not anywhere near as much as we ...

this is just a thought, but wouldn’t it be possible theoretically to "clamp" the cam and crank signals in order to raise the rev limit? Not allow the signals to go above a certain level. The ECU would think that the engine RPM is at the clamped value while it is actually higher then that. ...

This may be common knowledge, but it was new to me. This link may help clear up what RON rating you are seeing with pump gas (in Austrailia) http://www.powerchipgroup.com/articles/octane/page%20one.html For those of us in the USA... From what I have heard, "In the United States, Federal Law req...

Thanks for sharing that! It really was code 55. But I dont know if that really was the problem though. I cleaned up the spark plugs and reset the ECU and it starts and runs better. The plugs were pretty fouled. Thanks again!

Wow actually i triple checked the code. What in the world is going on...? I'll look again in the morning.

Actually im using the EJ18 ecu, so i would think it uses the standard OBD-I that most US subarus use. All the other codes i've seen have been on Legacy777's site.

car wont start, error code help

So early today i got out and start my car and move it so i can shovel some of the 2+ feet of snow around it. Everything works fine. A couple hours later I try to start it and it wont start. It started once for a couple seconds, then died. Now it cranks but wont start. I'm pretty sure its not a fuel ...

Even a very small vacuum leak can cause major idle problems. Check all your intake (vacuum) lines after the MAF.

You might want to check to make sure that the car is really OBD-II, my 95 Impreza is OBD-I.

How did you wire the system in? Is there a "plug in" harness for your car or did you have to hard wire it?

Do you still have A/C and heating?

I'm pretty sure the brake light has nothing to do with the condition of your brake pads/drums. You may want to check the condition of your brake master cylinder reservoir cap (the lid), the black leather on mine was 4 times its original size (apparently caused by a foreign substance touching it) som...

I might be able to help with some of your questions... If the engine is really a 96 JDM WRX with 50k miles, and it "passes" a compression and leak-down test, then $2000 is a good deal. If the engine is really the whole front clip from the WRX, then that is a great deal. I swapped a EJ20 in...

here is an update: I have noticed the "hesitation" problem is getting progressively worse. I first noticed it a couple months back, and it occationally popped up every once in a while. But now it is constant. Now the hesitation continues no matter if its on boost or vacuum. Before, while a...

Oh, forgot to mention, everything else is normal. It idles fine and starts fine.

No, it doesn't stall, if I push in the clutch while the hesitation is happening, the rpms will drop to the normal level, but it doesnt stall.

off boost problems

I am having a lot of trouble with off boost acceleration, mostly while "cruising", trying to maintain a speed while on an interstate highway, with light throttle (less then 50%) and keeping in vacuum...Ill try to explain what’s going on: I feel a big loss in power and the whole c...

I did a similar mod, although mine was much less involved then yours. All I did was hacksaw the stock shift lever, and then re-tap the threads for the stock knob. I took a lot off, maybe 2" or more. (cant remember) I have to ugly rubber, ribbed type boot, and it looks better now. It looks much ...
