the turbo's hot side should be hot, but you don't want the engine to be hot. That's why the chimney is on stock turbo legs, so when the car sits idle, the heat rises out of the engine compartment and doesn't heat soak the intake system. The ideal situation would be to wrap the hot side of the turbo ...

I would have swapped a known good (any injector but #1) in place of the #1 injector, and put the #1 injector in place of the old one. Reset the ECU and drive the car. If it comes back and says Injector #3 is a fault, then there you go. It's definately the injector rather than the wiring. agreed... ...

Once you're swapped the tranny there is a bunch of stuff to pull off the engine and around the car. Auto ecu under passenger seat, various kick down stuff , a control box under the dash, there is the auto seat belt sensors and wiring loom. If you have ABS then you can junk that and all it's wiring ...

You should get a good wideband on there and see what's really goin on. There's a good chance your probelm is fuel. Some of these cars have ground problems near the fuel pump. Your pump might not be putting out enough because of wiring issues. Check that first as it could be the issue and could also ...

just remove the sensor from the housing and place it in a larger tube. The practice is pretty common on lots of cars. On a side note, anyone try to use a Jecs MAF from a q45? They are pretty massive and I think the plug is even the same. I've got one and plan to test it out when I get the car runnin...

I've never done teh swap, but IIRC they look the same. I have a late 95 engine here I'll pull apart soon and see what rockers it has. It's dual port exhaust though, so I assume it's the same as the 89-94 engines.

FS: AWD 5 speed Tranny

I've got a 5 speed tranny for a N/A car, AWD. It's in good shape, came out of my old car. Doesn't make any noise and shifts smooth. $300 shipped to most anywhere in the 48. It's located in Woodstock, NY if you want to pick it up we can make a deal. I've got a bunch of other parts hanging around too ...

I can pretty much garentee that you'll never get even close with EJ22 heads. minimun you'll need EJ25 heads and intake, ported and pollished. You'll have to build it to rev just so you have the engine speed to make the number like Matt was saying. Compression will need to go up and go up a lot. Also...

your new belt should have marks on it, just line the marks up with the marks on the cam and crank cogs and you're set. they only line up one way. it's the marks, not the arrows, ignore the arrows.

You guys should start building things yourself. Buying stuff sucks, and isn't nearly as cool. I dunno how much power I'll be able to take my engine too because of the pistons I'm running, but I've got enough everything else to make the 300whp number easy. EJ25 SOHC heads - free, off a junk engine po...

search link is up top.... usualy it's just one or two that's bad. Checking oil pressure isn't a bad idea, but the HLAs do tend to go bad. Just get used ones. I have a few sets of rockers sitting around you can pull them from. You can have em cheap, PM me if you're interested.

240 lbs of waste is really not a lot of waste considering how much energy was produced. that's pretty much the ballance that nuclear energy offers. try making a bolt on strap to hold the pipes together at each end. My new setup will use the Jecs in blow though, I never though this would be a problem, but maybe I shuld just build this right in. With any luck I'll be swapping the engine in by next week. Shit's just been so busy around here.

One other thing to note if you're looking at swapping in a 97+ EJ22, the exhaust doesn't work. EJ22 went to single port exhaast in 97, so you'd need teh front pipe to get it to match the heads.

the info on that visor was written nearly 20 years ago, when synthetics were rediculously expensive and conventional oils didn't have the heat resistant additives they have now. In 1989, when the finnishing touches were put on the turbo leggy, it was a different scenario.

it's going to be a pipe thread, just measure it and get one the right size. Probably like 1/2 or 3/4 one of them (SOHC OR DOHC ) is bigger than the other, forget which one though.
