Performance

A few more weeks of use confirms that this is a very nice ride. The auto-box versatility continues to impress, but in "Sport" mode it does not kick down as fast as the old , but built, 4eat. Perhaps that is left to the manual mode. However, the launch from first in the manual mode has not ...

New-To-Me-Legacy

On Wednesday, bought a 2005 2.5 GT Wagon--I'm calling it a Turbo Wagon. Acceleration is better than I expected, and the 5eat sports shift is versatile . "Drive" provides shifting with economy in mind. "Sport" is just that--fully automatic. The manual control with the +, or - posi...

Turbo Wagon

I've sold my Wagon.

It was time to move on and I told the speed shop that did a lot of the work that it was for sale.

One of the young guys has a hot 510 that was prepped out there and one drive and the transaction was done.

So no more posts on the "built" 4eat from me.

Which Engine?

I'm about to sell my Turbo Wagon. One of the guys at the speed shop will likely buy it, and one of the thoughts was to put a serious STI engine in it. My response is that the 2.2 closed deck is a good engine and the one in my Wagon is still sound. Suggested putting in a more sophisticated waste gate...

On the launch as well as going along slowly at about 30 klicks --I miss the high-stall converter.

It was so quick. :-D

Thinking of Selling the "Stealth Wagon"

1993 Turbo Wagon: AP Racing brakes, DMS 40 mm coilovers. The shocks have 30 clicks from soft to firm, and the springs are 225 front and 180 rear. Also have springs rated at 200 front and 160 rear. The DMS setup is adjustable in ride height and the springs provide full, rather than reduced travel. Wh...

For the past few years I had been talking to the guys about making a new tank. But, it took the failure to make it happen. The shop specializes in high-performance cars and is not set up to fabricate tanks at a competitive price. They took the measurements from the existing tank and made it simpler ...

Coolant Tank

Coolant Tank After owning my t wgn for 6, or so, years and being very careful with the fragile tank and its connections--it failed. That was on Monday night and noticed at a stop as steam was floating around. The diagnosis was easy and made before I got out of the car. Made it home and ...

Weird 4eat Tranny

Had been running along a main thoroughfare at a steady 60 klicks for a number of miles. As in no launches or foot on the floor accelerations. Turn off and come to a 4-way stop, with a slight upgrade. In fourth, were it usually is, and in attempting to get through the intersection--engine spins with ...

I sort of had an image of the road being beat up by sticky tires

Roads and fast cars: moguls and skiis; white-water boulder gardens and a kayak; mountain bike and single track.

Great sports--all involve turning left and turning right. :-D :-D :-D --and beating the H.... out of the surface.

Need Some Advice

I have a high-stall torque converter, and a manual shift controller for the 4eat. In December, this was offered to Ciper on very easy terms. When he was ready I would ship it to him and he could pay some money when it was convenient. However, I have been unable to contact him, and he has posted noth...
