You are asking me to remember something from a whole four months ago! Just kidding. I have to think about this. I threw away the old parts so can't go look at them. Am pretty sure of this info though. The original equipment rear top mount and and upper spring seats are integral(good word, huh) to ea...

That is correct. It was because I did not want to use the '91 style springs that required the other parts. Other than that, I did want to use the STI Group N top mount. It took a lot of searching, research and study to figure out what parts I needed. The compendium of information is a start, but it ...

I have a '91 Sport Sedan, 5MT, which, of course has the turbo. The 91's have the more tapered top rear springs. The makers of aftermarket springs of that type is limited. I converted to be able to have more choices. I did chose Whiteline springs though, and they also make a spring for the '91 model ...

The Steelers did not play much better. Yes, some of the refs calls were questionable, and some were just wrong. The Seahawks should have won that game by at least 14. The Seahaks did make mistakes. The refs do not drop passes, the Seahawk players did. When you are playing at the Championship level, ...

Back in the day when mobile CB radios were popular a friends handle was "ozone kid" and my handle was "kleinkid" because I ride Klein bicycles. Kids like toys. Like the saying goes, only the price changes.

You're all a bunch of babies! Kleinkid is 53. You know, it seems like just a few years ago I was in my twenties. Time flies. Whatever it is, do it now, because before you know it you might not be in a position to do it. I am continually impressd by how sharp most of you are. Thanks for all of your d...

Oil pump removal--drain oil?

Hayne's manual says to drain the oil from the crankcase before removing the oil pump. Is this necessary? This coming weekend I will be replacing my leaking water pump and a list of other parts while I am in there. Including checking the oil pump backing plate fasteners and replacing its o-ring. Don'...

I think you have a good idea in going to a muffler shop to have to have them help you out. When I was working on my CES to get it to fit nicely, I put the longer Kartboy hangers on and it looked like yours, too low. I thought it loooked dumb, also. I then put the stock hangers on and did something d...

It leaks when the engine is running, two drops a minute. I feel confident it is the water pump. Have re searched(searched again), and have come up with a shopping list to submit to that genuinely helpful Subaru parts person accross the Sound from here, to replace the water pump and all the usual sus...

water pump weep hole

I replaced the little 90 degree hose that goes from near the water pump to the oil cooler. This would have been an easy fix for the coolant that was on that hose. That did not fix it. I can now see that the coolant is dripping down onto that hose from above it. Can't see specifically where it is sta...

I have the stock hangers on my 91 SS. I don't have a stock one off the car to take a measurement on. The long Kartboy did make it way low, the mufffler tip especially looked dumb that low.

I bought the longer Kartboy hangers when I had the rubbing on the axle because I thought that would be the fix. Put them on and they made the system hang to low. Looked really bad at the tip, didn't mate with the recess in the bumper and so i put the standard length Kartboy hangers back in. That is ...

I can't believe I am writing this when the Seahawks are working hard to get by the Giants. To nerve wracking to watch, so have it on the radio. Anyway, when I first installed my CES there was rubbing on the axle just where yours is. I loosened all the flanges except at the turbo and tried to get eac...

Imprezive--I have converted to use 92-94 legacy or 93-01 Imprezza springs on my 91 SS. So now the upper spring seat and the top mounts are separate pieces. The original piece was an upper seat and top mount combination as one unit. I'm guessing, but I think you can buy STi top mounts for the 91. Did...

I should have asked what size that bolt is instead of the part no. I can get a bolt at Lowes. While I was under the front of the car I noticed that the fasteners that attatch the underside of the bumper to a plastic deflector or whatever it is are missing. They run the length of the bumper. There is...

I think I will get that hose and see if that takes care of the problem. I need that bolt that bolts the hard line in its hanger also. Do you have that part number? That bolt location is hard to get to to trial and error to find the right size. Thanks.

OK. I didn't realize this engine had an oil cooler. I just assumed an oil cooler was like a small radiator type device, external to the engine. This could be good news, not the water pump. This hose is a preformed 90 degree about 3" long. It wasn't leaking tonight when engine was cold and I was...

Attn. SS owners, coolant leak

On my 91 SS I have a small collant leak, and am not sure what the component (hose/line) is where the coolant appears to be leaking from. I say appears, because the coolant may not be coming from the line I am going to describe to you. It may be coming from the bottom of the belt cover which may indi...

I recently purchased and installed STi group n top mounts on my 1991 Legacy Sport Sedan. Front part number ST2031055000, $113.00 from www.subarugenuineparts.com. They don't have the rears, so I got them, part number ST20370AA240, $110.00, from www.rallispec.com. The holes line right up and they fit ...

Everyone has their opinion about springs. Rocket Rally has theirs. Why do they have this opinion, who knows? I used the Whiteline Control springs and lowered 3/4". They do have their Flatout line for some applications, which lowers more than their Control line. 3/4" is well within KYB's to...

Front AGX's installed on my 91 today.

I installed the front AGX struts, and Whiteline "Control" springs in my 91 SS this weekend. I used new STi group N top mounts, and was able to reuse the rubber helpers and the rubber seats(upper). The top of the damper rod sticks up higher than the stock damper rod and the dust seal is not...
