Re: Time to get some new tires for the WRX rims. Suggestions
I put Conti ExtremeContact DWS (Ultra High Performance All-Season category) on both the '94 SS and '11 WRX. Have nothing to complain about.
Yes, DiscountTire will price match TireRack too. The Lynnwood store manager was more than happy to help out.

Plugged in revscan or evoscan to read the temp sensor values when cold and warmed up?

cleaned the IAC?
TPS could be going bad, screws moved, and/or need readjusting per the FSM.

Re: knock sensor
Junk yard knock sensor wire is going to be brittle. Just get microphone wire (outside is shielded, just like the KS wire) and use that from the sensor back to the ECU. Make sure to solder all connections.

Re: Fuel cut: TD05/Stock pump/550/revtronix/
I have seen spikes up to 22-23 psi with the ECU controlling boost, accompanied by lots of knock counts. I just use a Hallman manual boost controller currently. I saw that too during data logging when the BCS was going in/out of safe mode.... http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?p=314372#p314372

Yup, been required on many newer Subarus for a while. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/attachments/oil-fuel-discussion/18209d1292786673-subaru-synthetic-vs-dyno-oil-synthetic-oil-use.jpg Unless as others have stated, it's classified as "severe driving conditions". 2011 MY Federal Specif...

Re: Ecu question
Really? I thought that's the primary reason why RevTronix/etc went with the plugin ROM (besides the obvious safely of not toasting the ECU on a bad flash). heh, well anyways I'd highly doubt anyone is going to spend the time figuring it out.

You're certain the CEL every time is the VSS? Sounds possibly like a loose/bad connection to one of the plugins to the cluster.

Re: TD04 swapped/mbc, hitting fuel cut?
Sure there isn't a leak in any of the tubing to/from the turbo and TMIC?
I had a hard to find leak which only occurred while on boost; engine ran fine otherwise (screen shots in the TMIC sticky). Others have had problems with the 90* silicone tube off the turbo collapsing.

Re: Ideal Knock Sensor Location - Josh?
On some tired engines, the stock sensor location might still send too many false positives. After exhausting your options to validate it's not the sensor or harness (aka new OEM knock sensor with fresh microphone wire soldered back to the ECU), you could consider installing the sensor into the trans...

Re: A/F meter hooked up wrong
I'd recommend a WB that has a narrow band output so you can keep the stock ECU happy. Otherwise, you'll need a second bung on the DP for narrow band & wide band. Inovativemotorsports LC-1 can do this too, plus the simulated NB output curve is changeable via software. I installed the LC-1 in the...

Where did you get the walbro from? was it really new or slightly used?
In theory, the fuel filter will catch all the fragments. probably worthwhile to replace it too.

While not fun and curvy, US97 on the eastern side of the mtn range is long, straight, and often not much traffic. Plenty of space to open it up.
