Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

For now, I'm going to run it with the ej22t top end and heads and see what it does. Then, once I have enough to swap to dohc, I'll find out what the internals are. I tried using a stethoscope to look thru the spark plug hole and see the piston, but the lens was a bit too big to fit thru

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

Ok, I finally got around to taking the manifold off. Im pretty those are the two Pcv vent holes and it has the gussets. This looks like a turbo 25 block, no? http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160116/c01ec8a1b64078149bfaef9ac94538a3.jpg the hoses coming from the valves covers to the tee in the middle...

Re: Camshaft Q's

I don't think swapping the passenger side cam inside the engine bay is possible. You could just take the heads off, I have done that with the engine in the car before. I think I had to jack the engine up a bit to get the head bolts to back up far enough. I am about to send my cams to delta on Monday...

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

I plan on replacing all of the hoses anyway. I need to relocate the coolant tank to make room for the fxt tmic anyway, so I'll have to disconnect a couple things. Don't worry, I'll be on here asking for help if I get stuck.

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

Didn't get the time to pull the manifold, and honestly, I'm a little intimidated by the turbo manifold vs the na one I'm used to dealing with. Lots of things to forget the routing on. I did, however use the camera from work to sneak a peak underneath and look for those Pcv vents. I believe this is t...

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

Started stripping my newly acquired ej22t. Just dropped the heads off at the machine shop, getting ready to ship the cams to delta for the 220 regrind.

It appears to have both. I still haven't taken the manifold off, but peeking thru with a flashlight, I'm almost positive I see both.

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

Would this setup still be non-interference? It may seem like a dumb question, but my only experience with subaru engines has been with the na ej22 in my 93.

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

The gussets you are talking about are the zig zag patterns to the left of the ej25 stamp? If so, the block has them. So that means it is a turbo 25 block of some sort? I'll pull the manifold to get a better look, I just really didn't want to take the heads off if I didn't need to.

Re: Trying to identify an ej25 block

Thanks Mike. I plan on running a vf40 with a tmic on the setup as is. I may replace the headgaskets and if I do, I'll take pics of the cylinder walls. I'm curious as to what internals it may have, but I didn't want to have to crack open the block. Even if it is an na ej25 variant, would I be safe ru...

Trying to identify an ej25 block

So I pulled what looked to be an ej22t out of a 91 ss at a junkyard. Once I got it in my garage and began looking it over, the block is stamped ej25. The heads and turbo look to be for the 22t, but I know there was never a sohc 2.5 turbo model, so how can I tell what type of 2.5 block I have. I am w...

I'm assuming the corners are pre face lift? I maybe interested in the heads. I'm waiting on robertpaige to tell me if he's giving up his or not, if he keeps his I'll take them shipped to 23464, just let me know what the damage would be shipping

Sweet. This will bolt up to my ej22t without too much modding right? I can send the funds through PayPal by Saturday.
