Uhhhh... yeah, I would be interested in stuff. Additionally I work for a Toyota truck performance company, if you're getting very serious about this we may need to have a chat. We might be interested in getting our hands on some "Hilux" stuff...

Re: uh oh this guy is back
Welcome back, I'll piggy back on yours and say I'm sort of back too. I picked up a couple first gens early last year and have been too busy to do much to them. Got them both on the road and driving now, now I can start fixing not so serious issues.

There is an additive you can add along with the PAG100 as well... trying to remember the name and brand. Something like ICE32, works really really well.

Re: 20 years of Legacy Central
Agree with it all. Such fond memories that I now have 2 more "BC"s. A '92 SS and a 93 n/a wagon :) An endlessly helpful friendly community, solid cars that I am very familiar with now and know their quirks. My wife and I decided we don't want new cars anymore. Selling our newest car while ...

Not sure if anyone here has that new of a Legacy or has dealt with them much. Generally that vintage the stereo is fairly straight forward. Do you know if anyone has done anything with the dash? That is pretty odd that both fronts are not making any noise. The stock head unit runs at a very differen...

Not only does that not look bad, it actually looks pretty good. I thought 18's would look terrible on the first gen. How does you speedo read?

Curious about this too.
To add to the conversation, I ran a N/A TCU with a turbo trans for a long time and 10's of thousands of miles till the car was totaled without any issues.

Always choose oem unless you're putting together a fun car then cometic is what I would use. +1 on this IMO. I hate to say, with the EJ25D, if one gasket has gone, the other probably will too. I haven't heard of anyone having enough luck with that specific engine replacing one side and being good t...

Re: ...car won't start [help]
Some moisture leaving the tail pipe is totally normal, and if it was excess gas it would be very easy to smell. What sort of mileage are you getting and how are you determining that you're using more gas? The fuel senders (the little wire thing with the float on it in the gas tank) can corrode and g...

There are so many things that can effect idle. It sounds like you're actually having more than one issue that's causing the symptoms. Hope you get them all nailed down, be sure to update us with any improvements you're able to make!

Jeebus! So did you ever determine what the piston material or coating is? I may seriously consider this for my 22T and save money for the crank and rods.

Using fuel more quickly? Are you smelling unburnt fuel out of the tail pipe or is it filling up the charcoal canister or anything? Is it running horribly rich?

Could be the IAC or the lead to the IAC. Also have you done anything with the grounds on the car? Most of the grounds in these cars are woefully inadequate. Adding an extra under dash to chassis, and engine to chassis will usually help with a lot of little weird things and make your dash and interio...

Re: Will WRX seats bolt directly into first gen legacy?
For future reference, 02-07 WRX seats should just bolt right in, but when they went to the new body in 08 they changed the rear seat mounting quite a bit as you found out. ;) To add to this in case someone else stumbles in here, the seats will ride a little higher than stock. If you're pretty tall ...

Sorry I'm this late to the game but what exactly would the triangular window piece be? They're referencing the front side of the door where the mirror bolts into. The bend the metal plate the inside plastic trim peace pops onto. There is a seal behind that plastic piece that usually causes all the ...

Re: Currently available struts, springs, and coilovers
The key there is that you used wrx wagon parts. And you're right, those are pretty much the same and the 02-07 impreza wagon does have the same track width as the 1st gen impreza and legacy. However, the 02-07 sedan is wider. The strut towers in the chassis are in the same place, the subframes are ...

Just for my own curiosity and because I will be in the market before too long, do you know off hand if the front GC spring size is the same as first gen leggy? Or if I pick up some springs meant for a GC will I need the spring perch for the GC as well to use with my fairly new tophats? Sometimes thi...

Just an FYI for you and anyone else that might come across this thread, with the key switched to on without starting you should hear that fuel pump cycle from the drivers seat as long as you're in a reasonably quiet area.

I haven't used a Gates in years so I can't say anything to that. I'm a fan of Dayco and Rock Auto has them dirt cheap in a full kit right now. Just picked one up, has all the pulleys, tensioner, T-Belt, water pump and all the front seals for $140!

Well... it just depends on how much effort you want to put into it. The 22 heads are sort of the weakness of the engine (as far as power is concerned), so anything while leaving the heads is going to be mediocre at best. Any full engine or head swap you're looking at wiring and computer work of some...

GC impreza tops are the same as the legacy. Actually, BC, BD, BE, GC, GD all use the exact same front top mounts. GC and 92-94 legacy have the same rear tops. I hate to clutter this guys thread when he isn't asking about static stuff, have I been misinformed on the GC stuff? Is it just the upper sp...
