Matt, I might be missing something. Since there is the posibility for valve-piston contact wouldn't you want to make sure the crank and cams are turning at the same time? I suppose I could rotate the cams so that the lobes aren't maxed out (or in other words all the valves would be closed). Rotate ...

Re: Craigslist Sport Sedan's

There's a good chance this car has a rear LSD. Most of the '91 5spds did.

Why bother to reinstall the timing belt before you do the leakdown test? Do it now before you go to all that trouble. Technically, each cyclinder being tested should be at TDC while you run the leak down. Because we have said that there can be both valve-valve and valve-piston interference its easi...

I wouldn't say it's that good of a deal. I'm not sure what they go for. That one looks to be in great shape but I bought mine locally for $350 and it came with a clutchmasters WRX lightweight flywheel($475 retail), brand new ebay F1 Racing clutch and brand new Ebay headers. Plus you have to pay shi...

FS: '97 JDM WRX STI V3 Transmission swap

Hello, I've got a low mileage JDM transmission swap for sale. It's from a 1997 JDM v3 STi. It's the short ratio gearbox TY752VB5CA with 4.44 FD. This comes with an R180 rear LSD and drive axles. To install this on an old Legacy you will need some JDM rear R180 hubs (which I can get for you) or some ...

I've retitled your thread. In future please try to choose a title that let's people know what the topic is before they click on the thread. Your problem is the guide pins at 3 and 9 o'clock. They are rusted in place. Some PB blaster soaking can help. Heat can also sometimes do the trick. On really s...

Yep. I'll give another confirmation that that was the cylinder with the blown head gasket. I've seen that a few times, but never that clean. In my experience the piston has been cleaner than the head.

Just for the record, your RS has a 6250rpm fuel cut.

The rev limiter is 6500 on the Ej22T ECU.

As was mentioned it would hit fuel cut at lower rpms if the boost is too high.

It's definitely not the heads or valve float. Redline on the DOHC Ej25d powered cars is also 6500rpms.

Nice write-up and pics. Are the pivot retaining clips not the same as the ph. II EJ22? Or not available? Last time I checked PHII Ej22's used roller rockers like a SOHC Ej25. One other comment is that I personally use a tuna can of oil when I bleed HLA's. It seems a waste of oil to contaminate a wh...

Cool,
Thanks for the pictures. That's a factory aluminum inlet pipe with some sort of aftermarket silicon elbow replacing the plastic elbow. Let me know if you decide to move on that price. That's more than I am willing to pay, especially since all I actually need is the pipe.

Is it THAT bad of a trip that you need to bring ALL that. If anything carrying the extra weight will put more stress on everything and cause it to break. Just bring a alternator only and toolset. Why not pickup oil and coolant as you go along IF neccesary. If you don't have oil leaks or coolant lea...

Me too, but it's still a very classic quote.

Just be sure to take a decent sampling of tools (10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, pliers, vice grips, and a couple of each standard and phillips screwdriver) a real jack, jumper cables and maybe a cigarette lighter air pump and you'll be fine.
