Recharging a/c
So I haven't had air conditioning since the first time we pulled my engine. Since the system was discharged in the process of removing the engine what would be the best course of action to get everything back in order? Yesterday the temperature was 100. It really like to get it going again.

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
I think I can still hear it but it seems very faint now. My gas mileage has improved, not gotten worse. I used to get around 17 but I'm around 22-25 now. I'm not sure it was the lash adjusters but the sound was pretty much exactly like what I had heard before.

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
My oil light has never come on. My rpm gauge was never fixed but I don't drive like a granny. Plus I frequently "climb" mountains in the car. Going up the valley or heading to West Virginia where truck climbing lanes are required for big Rigs.

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
What would cause the lash adjuster noise to return? The car has between 3-4 thousand miles on it since the head job and oil change. My mother's outback finally bit the dust with over 500,000 on it so my parents have been using my car. My father drove it last and swore it wasn't making notice but I w...

Re: White smoke
I think everything is ok. It is condensation as I has held my hand in front of the exhaust and my hand became damp. My car had set for a week and I noticed that the lower rad hose had a leak so after start up the level in the coolant tank dropped an inch or two... But then I drove the car 200 miles ...

Re: White smoke
Gaskets were made in Japan Felpro.. Not the best but a master subaru mechanic on YouTube recommended them and they have good reviews for Subaru. It was about 50 degrees outside. And yes, I am talking about smoke from the exhaust. Idle seems to be the same as it has since I fixed the TPS and injector...

So.. I had my heads resurfaced and gaskets replaced two months ago. Right after that I drove the car about 300 miles without issue. Since then I have driven it 1000-2000 miles. I went out of state Tuesday-Thursday and put over 300 additional miles on it with no problem. My sister drove behind me and...

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
I always use the bleeder screw when I add coolant. I replaced the thermostat last week and drove the car over 400 miles during the weekend.. Temperature never got over half and I had zero coolant or oil loss. The noise from the lash adjusters vanished within the first 50-100 miles or so. The car is ...

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
Thanks for the replies. I took the car for a spin and the temp started trying to climb over half. I cut it off and parked it. Reeeealy hoping it is just the blasted thermostat. I am going to buy an oem locally tomorrow. Just got word of a house for rent. I'm probably moving 20 minutes into the mount...

Re: New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
We pulled the engine and had the heads machined.. The guy told me they did .0006. We could tell that one of the gaskets was definetly flown. We checked the timing pulleys and they were ok. We replaced the timing belt, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets and spark plug (old ones were fine bu...

Re: Blown HG?.. Options and opinions
Thanks Josh. We are planning on pulling the engine. It may not be the easiest option but we do need to replace some little seals in there. I know the only way to replace the rear main seal is to pull the engine. It doesn't need to be replaced but I know it should be any time the engine comes out. I ...

Re: Blown HG?.. Options and opinions
We're going to replace the gaskets. Any tips for removing the timing belt? Couldn't get it off before. We already have the belt laying around. What else is manditory to replace? Aside from the rear seal? The car has 127,000 miles on it. We replaced a few of the major seals last year. There are some ...

Re: Blown HG?.. Options and opinions
Thermostat was not a subaru thermostat. Just an advance auto parts buy. When filling with coolant I always use the bleeder screw. My father suggested doing rent a tool and said something about a cylinder compression tester. It is currently out on loan but we got a coolant system tester and found a h...

New head gaskets. Car doesn't sound right
Sorry to be so drawn out. Trying to cover everything. year and a half ago we replaced the radiator in my car. A few months later we pulled the engine due to a blown rear transmission seal. In Febuary (exactly a year after the rad was replaced) it over heated. It couldn't have been hot for long, and ...

Code 33
I have been trying to fix my car one code at a time. I was trouble shooting for over a year trying to figure out my rough idle and loss of power, combined with the smell of old gas when the car was started. Plug wires didn't do anything to make a difference. I tried cleaning the injectors by hand wi...

Thanks Josh. They didn't have any other cars that would have been compatable. I looked on car-parts.com and have sent out some inquiries. There are a couple of sets listed for $20 each.

Are injectors from a 93 legacy L a direct fit? My father is going back tomorrow to get front seats for his truck and they just added a '93 L today. The injectors are only $5 each

Re: Lights gone haywire
Well duh! Gosh I feel stupid.. I was born blonde but grew out of it 18 odd years ago, guess it doesn't matter. My brother set his iPhone on the dash so as to light up the speedometer, he apparently hit the park light button in the process. I never use the park lights and I forgot the button was even...

So my CD player came from a yard sale almost 2 years ago. It is generic and has had the occasional problem. For a while now when I start the car the radio cuts on, even if it was off or muted before. My sister went to take her drivers test so we unplugged the radio so that it wouldn't interfere. It ...
