I found a motor! A local guy is selling an EJ22 longblock for dirt cheap. I am going to pick it up this week and more than likely rebuild it before I swap it into the car.
Next step is finding all the rebuild parts I will need.

Re: EJ205d into 93 Legacy N/A
Ideally I would like to get an ej22t but I can't find one for a reasonable price and I feel weird paying a grand for a motor with 150k miles. Especially when I get get a warrantied motor with substantially less miles for $900 all day.

Re: EJ205d into 93 Legacy N/A
Not the answer I was looking for, ugh. I do know that any more I get that wasn't available from the factory is going to be difficult, but is this specific motor harder than others for some reason? I already know that probably whatever I get will require splicing the two harnesses together and some o...

Re: EJ205d into 93 Legacy N/A
He told me EJ205D, but he did tell me the other day that its a 2.0 turbo.
Also, they have eight of them, so Im sure they are a range of different years. Is there a year that will work best for my needs?
Thanks for the help!

EJ205d into 93 Legacy N/A
I came across a great deal on a low mileage EJ205d to replace the blown up EJ22 in my rhd 1993 Legacy Wagon and I am looking for any info you guys may have on what will be required for the swap. I searched on here and didn't come up with anything so hopefully someone can offer some insight. Thanks i...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Nice. Looks way better. Love the outback. Those wheels are sick. Thanks! If you want a cleaner look bake the tail lights at 150-200 degrees in the over for a few minutes and remove the lenses and pull out the orange turn signal lenses. Bake again and reinstall lenses. Keep a close eye though. I war...

Re: 93 Legacy Issues. Click Clackin Away!
There is no way replacing lifters would cause a rod knock, unfortunately it sounds like just a coincidence. At the very most, if somehow you didn't put the rocker arm in correctly, it could have maybe damaged some valves. But that's not the case. When you removed the valve cover, you may have leake...

Re: 93 Legacy Issues. Click Clackin Away!
Leakdown test complete. Looks like the pressure is leaking into the crankcase and according to my roommate "Piston is Fucked" I am starting to get a bit of an unsettling feeling from his abilities. The car needed lifters for sure, as soon as he replaced them and started the car back up it ...

Ok, compression test done. Three of the cylinders had around 150psi, one cylinder had 90psi.
Roommate said his thoughts is that a valve or valve spring broke. Leakdown test tomorrow.
UGH!

Re: 93 Legacy Issues. Click Clackin Away!
The noise in the 2nd video sounds like a knock. I have never heard lifters sound like that. The lifters will 'tick', that is a deeper knocking sound. I definitely would not drive it like that. I had a bunch of stuck lifters in my car for a while, it sounds like someone tapping metal with a quarter....

93 Legacy Issues. Click Clackin Away!
When I bought my 93 Legacy yesterday the guy told me that the motor was knocking "really bad," and would need to be replaced. When I started it up to drive home it was very loud, but quieted down to this point after just a few minutes: 93 Subaru Legacy running smooth - YouTube However, whe...

Re: First gen rear suspension question. With photos!
Yeah I am going to knock them all out at once. It's only $220 for all of the bushings for the rear and two that I haven't already bought for the front. Not bad for basically completely replenishing the suspension.

According to this diagram, it looks like the bushing I need is #27, the rear trailing link bushing:

Re: First gen rear suspension question. With photos!
you may also have a bad wheel bearing. that is the normal test to see if it is bad. That also crossed my mind, because the way the wheel is moving seems like a bad wheel bearing to me. The thing is, that bushing also seems to be bad, so I was going to start with the cheaper option first and hope th...

Re: What later model rear knuckles (AWD) fit a 90 Legacy?
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy just the bushing for the bottom of the knuckle, or do I have to buy a whole knuckle? Car in question is 93 Legacy, and part number two is the bushing I speak of:

First gen rear suspension question. With photos!
I have a 1993 Legacy and I am trying to get all of the suspension in good working order so I can drive without fear of death. I figured out most of the front problems already but the rear is a different story. When I jack up the rear of the car I can move the wheel in and out a bit. It looks like I ...

Re: GD/GG Impreza (WRX/STi) springs on BC/BF/BJ cars: UPDATE
I've got ISC N1 coilovers on my 91 Sedan. I really like them. This is my 2nd winter with them, in some pretty harch conditions. At -25 and colder, everything is stiff (like today's -35 temps), and these coilovers set to the softest setting are tolerable. Once they warm up a little bit, it's great. ...

Looks fantastic. Just picked up the exact same car today in Virginia. Mine is not even half as clean as yours, yet.
If you don't mind me asking, I love that interior so much, what year Legacy is it from? I am very new to older generations.
