We're changing some settings to force HTTPS on links, so that in the event you click an HTTP link, it'll force those to -S.

Indeed. Security shouldn't be so hard, but it's only recently become the standard on the internet, much to the chagrin of ISPs and other three-letter concerns.

Re: Now using SSL
The reason that the browser, Firefox or Chrome, isn't showing that it's %100 secure is because of elements like the Google Search and Adwords. Those elements are not delivered through SSL, yet.

Now using SSL
For those of you who are privacy-conscious, you may be pleased to hear that I've enabled a Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate for the forum. For those of you who are using new versions of Firefox, this will appease the warning it gives when selecting a saved password. It will also keep Tapatalk and Apple...

Re: New media outlets!
Crank Journal is fun because it's car nerds. No talking at length about new cars, or "current" topics, but it's all about what's in the classifieds, and iron that's out in the world.
I had a really fun time, and look forward to being on the podcast again in the future.

Re: Moscow, ID - Cusco front subframe brace. 90 shipped.
Back in 2001 the STi parts availability in North America was very weak, so I bought the CUSCO brace and the top mounts that were on the 93 wagon. It's far easier to get parts here nowadays, but that's not as fun as going to AUTOBACS and browsing the aisles full of tuner magazine parts on shelves.

Good of Apex-i to replace the display. That was a great device. Probably got that in 2002, so it's 15 years old or so.

Was this the one from the 93 Wagon?
If so, I carried that one back from Japan. What a difference it made.

Re: Imporing a 25-year old JDM Legacy
The Legacy is/was a family car, in most every trim level save for the extreme versions. I'd be surprised if the Legacy didn't outsell the Impreza in Japan for many, many years, like it did here until the mid-2000s. The Legacy is more a volume-sales car, where the Impreza is, and the earlier models c...

Re: Imporing a 25-year old JDM Legacy
I looked into them yesterday, as Matt Farah on The Smoking Tire purchased his mint R32 Skyline GT-R from their California branch. They had no Subarus in stock, but that's not to say it's not a few phone calls away. Thanks for the tip though. If I get serious, they'll probably be the first place I co...

Imporing a 25-year old JDM Legacy
Now that the 89-91 (as of this post) Legacy models can potentially be imported to the United States legally, has anyone seen or heard of this actually happening? I've browsed a number of JDM importer sites, but they don't have any Subaru models whatsoever. This isn't a surprise, as the WRX and Impre...

Re: Contemplating about a replacement car
It took me a long time to get used to my wife's 09 Fit, but when I realized I'd made a poor decision on the OB XT, and that the BH OB was just as hopeless, it made sense to look for something almost completely different: No AWD, no boxer engine, lightweight, great mileage, beam rear axle, rear drum ...
