$5000. That's the estimate. Basically everything on the driver's side needs replacing/fixing. Even the rear quarterpanel, as there is a wrinkle/kink in the rear doorsill.

So...Yeah....Reshell.

If I find an Impreza lots of good Legacy parts will be on the market. I'll let you know what I find.

Well, looked at it closer. The core support and the inner fender (structural) are mangled. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c226/PhyrraM/IM003223.jpg Budget reasons force this to be a d.i.y. project. Unless somebody convinces me that I can repair the structure to original I will be looking for a do...

Impreza swap loses about 300 pounds to the car. And 99% bolt on deal. A few wiring issues and I think the radiator need something done to it. Suspension/engine/trans is 100% bolt in.

Well, it's happened. Sad news inside.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c226/PhyrraM/IM003221.jpg Is it worth fixing? This would be by me. I'm a good mechanic, but never attemped body work. Needs 2 doors if you look close and the leading edge of the rear wheel well is tweaked too. Battery was not crushed, radiator and A/c is fine. Some...

Does the vacuum pump run constantly under normal circumstances?

If it does not then a vacuum leak in the cruise hoses might cause the pump to stay on and overheat.

Just an idea.

www.gcrallyx.com for details. Corona, CA.

This one is fun, but you can put yourself out if not careful.

I realize that it is a cable setup. I already have an pedal set, SS clutch master/slave cylinders, Manual instument cluster and WRX shifter. It has been stated that a Cable trans can be converted to a push-type hydralic trans by drilling and tapping one boss and sourcing the proper brackets. I am wi...

DOne the reading, just need a bit of verification

My local "pull it yourself" yard has a '96 Outback with a 5 speed and a 2.2 SOHC. I am thinking of using it to convert my '93 Turbo to a manual trans. I don't plan on big power so I am not worried about the strength of the trans. What I am wondering most is if the Trans crossmember from th...

Depending on the thickness of the flange, I would either belt sand till the spot is gone, or weld and then belt sand down flush. When I had a badly warped flange on a Mitsu 2.6 turbo exhaust manifold, the machine shop belt sanded it back flat. 50K+ miles later, no problems. They problably removed ab...

LOL.

Well, it got dug up by somebody. I'm glad it did, because I just learned something new.

Anybody got links to a V1-V3 wiring diagram to compare?

WRX swap or something better, easier?

I saw on Nasioc that Matt has a Legacy Turbo harness for sale. He mentioned that it could be used for swapping. That got me thinking... I was planning to do a standard WRX swap in the future. But if there is a certain engine or head/block combo that will work with the factory SS wiring with just an ...

I can't comment too much on normal asking prices, but I can tell you how much I just paid for my 93 SS. Bought it first week of Aug. 206K miles. Auto. Stock, no mods. Seems well taken care of, I you consider "jiffy lube" to be well taken care of. Much cleaner than the pics you posted. Driv...

Midnight observations...

Was on the way home from work in my newly aquired SS. All of a sudden, no PS, no A/C, no alterator. A little quick thinking and I remember that the water pump is turned by the timing belt, so I continue home. Turns out the balancer wore out and sheared the rubber that holds the pulley part to the hu...

Mostly for posterity.. In the middle picture, the round hole with the square peg, inside the clamp area that goes around the column. The "square peg" is the actual lock. It has a corresponding "hole" in the steel shaft of the steering column. The whole assembly is clamped around ...

Cool, thanks.

Yes the speedo works, but seems to read about 5-10 mph slow at speed. I attribute that to age and mileage.

I will reset the TCU and check again.

Redline in first gear?

I just picked up a '93 SS auto. 207K miles. $800. Seems to run fine after changing plugs and wires. But something is going on with the trans. I shifts no higher than 4-4.5K in first. Even when floored. This is regardless of shifter location or "manual" mode. When I check for codes it gives...
