HVAC fan only operates on high #4

Post by 2.2Turbo »

I noticed my fan only operates on high setting 4. Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Replace the resistor. If it's like my '90, it's directly behind the glove compartment in the blower housing.

The Haynes manuel mentioned the resistor causing this problem, but was not clear on where it was located.

Thanks,

I haven't removed mine, but I believe it is mounted on the evaporator behind the glove box.

I have a friend that mechanisc at the local Subaru dealership. I called him and he said it was the resistor. He said that the resistor is located behind the glove box.

Well that was a $40.00 quick fix. I purchased a resistor along with a new knock sensor today. I had both installed in 20min..

The resistor on my 87 wagon was rusted in, I had to drill out the mounting screws, and put in new hardware, what a bi%&* that was! But it works great now . P.S mine cost me like 80 dollars, go figure

I just replaced mine today, and it took like less than 10 minutes, and cost about $50 for the part. No I am noticing that the glove box door isn't lining up right, I guess it was like that before I took it apart though.
