04 WRX interior swap/custom thread

Post by Hinano »

Hi all! I figured I would make a thread to post my learnings for future members who want to swap the interior. Sorry I didn't take many pics but i'll get more of the carpet and othermodifications. I'm swapping the front and rear seats. Carpet, steering wheel and maybe some other wry stuff. I will also be doing some other little things which I'll keep logged in this thread. :)

DIRTY!

Take off all hogties!

Sorry I didn't take pics of the front seats!

Push up!

Image

Seats were filthy!

I scrubbed the seats then power washed. No pics sorry. After they dry, installation!

Buy a 100 pack of large 11 inch zip ties. I used almost the whole bag for front and rear seats.

Image

Zip tie from the inside! Go slow and think about what you zip first! Try to loosely tie a section at a time and zip around slowly.

Finished product with WRX carpet loosely laid down to see what I need to modify. Seats look mint now!

Gotta fix this! I'm thinking I'll make a little cubby to store things.

Little update! I'll finish tomorrow but couldn't help myself to post :D

The cut is about 6x14 inches. If you cut where I did, you won't be able to see it with chairs installed.

Looks good!

Why did you cut out that section under the seat? Was it so the carpet fits better?

If you look at that last pic you will see the white gap between the rear seats and door, it's just plastic. That's where it was short. I'll finish install today as its sunny and will have more pics :)

LIMITED "OEOE" EDITION: Special steering compass which points toward anywhere you are going! :D

You have to trim the clips, thats it. :)

Here are the seats by the way!

Center council broke so.. JB WELD

Image

Image

You gotta trim the WRX carpet and take out some of the padding for the center council to fit

Tested the kicker panel thing with the original grey carpet. What do you guys think? The cloths on the doors will be reupholstered dark grey so I think I need to make them the same as my carpet.

Sorry for all the pics but I'm having fun time sharing and figure this will make it much less intimidating for the next newbie. :)

The kick panel actually doesn't look bad. And I like the use of the rubber bands

How did the steering wheel fit? I want to put the same steering wheel on. What all modifications needed to be done? Can you post some pics on how you did it?
