Group buy on a Carbon or Fiberglass Hood

Post by NICO »

i dont know if this is in the right section.

how many people would be interested in a group buy on a carbon or fiberglass light weight hood for the legacy turbo ? not the ver1 hood from 1991, im talking the 1992 to 1994 ?

At what price? I've wondered if I could get a company to custom make one with the 05-08 Legacy GT style hood scoop but always figured it would be outrageously expensive. Every carbon fiber hood i've ever come in contact with is light enough to hold with one hand. I'm trying to get the weight down to 2500-2700lbs on my sedan so a lighter hood would definately help.

Maybe the hood could be designed to accept hood scoops designed for WRXes, so you could choose your own scoop from all the OEM and aftermarket options?

this is a very good idea !

also i contacted a fellow in the states for a carbon hood for our cars and he said it would be better to have around 10 people on this deal to bring down the cost, this is his site he's located in california.

I'd probably be in if it was around 400 or so. I need a new hood anyway which is 270, so i might as well upgrade if available, haha. I'm out if it fits a wrx scoop though, OEM style only

One with no scoop would be the only one I'd buy but I'd only buy one for a preface car.

lol this might be a hard project to get under way !

i think to accommodate everyone for a light weight hood would be best to make a oem non scoop hood and let the buyer pick on what he wants to cut out of the hood for a scoop.

or else i dont think this will get under way !

that would probably be the best bet other then the fact a lot of people wouldn't want to cut into a brand new carbon hood to install a scoop haha

there is no easy way :(

Well I don't know how to do this anymore, I just want a light weight hood and I might even get him to make a trunk for me it's going to cost allot but this car needs it because the hood and the trunk are stupid heavy !!!

So I'm going to talk with the fabricator and see what he comes up with

What about one that accepts a WRX-style bolt in scoop, or a flat filler panel for those who don't want a scoop?

Yup! This seems to be the best option. I'm hoping both 91 and 92-94 hoods can be made. I own a 91 and a 94 and would be all about these hoods and trunks!!!
