Look at the pictures in this set and you'll see some of the relays. The empty clip is where the sunroof relay likely goes.

The relay itself is white. The sunroof plug is red. Black relays are in the engine bay.

There should be 4 relays in the same area, one being the sunroof relay.

Well you may get lucky and pop a relay in there and be good to go. Obviously we know you have the fuel pump, Ignition and blower motor relays so it may be that simple.

So I called my local subaru dealer and asked them to look up the relay part number for the sunroof

this is what they gave me : 82501AA050

and looked at the relay i mentioned earlier and so happens it matches. So the down side now is i need a new motor...

So to be on the safe side power the motor with 12vs and see if it moves.

Alright thats good, now we need to start checking for power at the connectors. There is on connector at the motor, another at the driver side A pillar and the the one at the switch.

So when you press the swtich what do you hear?

Do you hear the relay?

Do you hear the motor trying to turn?

Make sure you have the key to ACC and when pressing the OPEN button try wiggling the connector at the plug just to make sure it isn't something weird.

Motor make no sound.

And what sound will the relay make?

And when checking the plugs should I have the ignition check for voltage going to the plugs?

The relay will click when you press the switch. Yes check for voltage before the switch and then after the switch when pressed. Could be a chance it is a bad switch.

Tony said that relay only clicks when you press the sunroof open button (the implication being, the car key is in the ACC position). Are you saying you are not hearing the relay click under those conditions?

If no relay click noise, then either the sunroof relay or the sunroof switch is probably bad. Try swapping a known good relay. If STILL no click, try swapping in a known good sunroof switch.

Ok, so for some reason I can't just save the pciture and post it. So the next best thing is Click here
Download the tech pubs and look in the wiring diagrams for the sunrrof wiring and trouble shooting for the switch.
