BC/BF Side Skirt Install How-To

Post by dankberries »

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has already been discussed but my searches rendered nothing. I'm curious of how you went about installing your factory side skirts on a vehicle not equipped with them.

Looking at the parts catalog I see it appears that self tapping scews are used for the underside of the rocker panel and plastic snappy thing things for the upper portion.

When looking at my car I was expecting to find knock outs that would reveal holes for these snaps/screws but I didn't see anything. Are their not pre-made holes for these? I would hate to drill any holes if its not necessary.

I know I could use double sided tape but prefer a more secure(security implied) option.

Thanks for any input!

I'm sure that would hold it pretty good but I want to be able to remove it with ease if I need to. It would suck to break the skirt trying to pry it off. I also would not like removing any bonding adhesive from the paint if I had to in the future.

Use the 3M auto adhesive tap. I use it for my front and rear spats. Its the same stuff they use for the emblems on the back.

The stock skirts use a combination of things to attach to the chassis. There are plastic clips that go on the underside as well as holes in the side of the lower sill for the side skirts to clip into. These clips are like the round clips found on the door. When I install mine I am planning on drilling holes on the underside of the car for the plastic clips and if I think it needs to be secured more I'll be using the 3M tape.

They install pretty similar to the ones on the Impreza RS. Pop over to the RS25 forum and read the how to. In fact you might have to pick up a few of the plastic insert pieces.
