How about a meet and greet forum like USMB has

Post by legacycontinues »

I am not encouraging the use of USMB but the meet and greet section was nice. It would keep all the M&G's out of the ashtray.

Anybody else with me on this?

Personally, I'm opposed to a "meet and greet" section. People introduce themselves through the grit and grime of the questions that are thrown on the board.

I'm also opposed to the M&G stuff. Introducting yourself as a new person on the board may be common, but that doesn't mean it's the best way.

You guys have it all wrong. When I say meet and greet I mean a forum where members can go to set up a time and place to meet physicaly. You know.....face to face. Not a forum where new members come to say "hi."

Basically....

"Central Florida Meet 01-15-05 in Orlando"

This way people in different areas of the us can set up meetings by region.

Ok, that makes sense. I'll ponder over this for a bit.

It would be nice. I saw a few posts in the ashtray but if it's not big enough it just gets lost in the shuffle.

What could it hurt?

I ask that you please consider it. If no one else greatly appreciates it......I still do.

Thanks guys

Personally, I will completely ignore a meet & greet forum- i already ignore the picture gallery and part shed and intercooling forums.

I ignore more than half the board but I would be interested in a meet and greet forum.

In the past 6 months there's been like 8-9 meet threads. I'll ask again, do we really need one?

Maybe there would be more M&G posts if people had a good place to put them. It takes all of a few minutes to create a M&G forum. I don't believe it costs any more.

What could it hurt? If enough people bitch about it then it could be taken down. If I owned this site I would do it.

Maybe it's a good thing you don't ;). Too many forums create clutter. But whatever. If Dave or Josh want it they'll make it. And I'll still ask, do we really need one?

It's not NASIOC here. Adding one more forum won't kill anyone.

Last time I checked this is the "suggestions" forum. Not the "Suggestions and put downs" forum. I don't knock anyone for their ideas so maybe you shouldn't either.

I was joking about the whole you owning the forum thing. I'm sorry you took it offensively. But as long as we're being technical about it, it's suggestions and comments. You made a suggestion, I made comments. Whatever though, my opinion was brought out, that's all I wanted.

I apologize for taking it the wrong way and responding accordingly.

It's the one thing I miss about USMB. I miss my USMB friends too. I wish Shortbus, pheadras and a few others would make the trip over.

For the time being, I'd say no this isn't going to happen.

I know i'm not going out on a limb here, but i can see why the USMB guys felt you rubbed them the wrong way. Chill out.

Community Projects is an underused forum which already exists. I moved it to the Community section and retitled it. Have a blast.
