VF43/TD04 install

Post by subytech »

Ok so the pics have the VF43 in them but I also test fitted the TD04 with the same coupler and it also fit just as well. Obviously the "F" pipe interferes a little bit but that could be solved fairly easily with custom set up. Also the stock intake manifold gets close but DOES NOT TOUCH, you could safely trim the manifold if the tight clearance bothers you. The 90 degree bend is from Silicone Hoses and is apparently the tightest 90 degree you can buy, we had to trim it some and would like a bit more clamping aria but since it’s just the intake side of the turbo were not too worried about it. This set up (VF43) is going on a 93 SS with a JECS maf 440 injectors and a revtronix, can't wait to see how it turns out.

do you have an exact part # for that 90 elbow? I am looking to put my Td04 on soon and am still working on getting all the gaskets and such. Thanks

heres the link to turbohoses.com
http://www.turbohoses.com/90%20degree.htm

its the 2 1/4" 90*. we had to cut the end that goes onto the turbo inlet to make it fit but not other modification was done. We then used a 2 1/4" piece of pipe from napa to connect the stock 90* inlet elbow to the silicon part.

Its definantly a huge improvement over stock. But be prepared to do some custom PCV lines to make everything fit. You can kind of see how we ran the lines here. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=43234 All the lines were redone with marine grade fuel line so its really thick, I think it turned out really good. Or you can just run a catch can to get ride of everything, which is what I'm going to do eventually.

Yeah, I have redone all of the lines in the bay, so no issues there. Cool.

I just swapped a 92 EJ22T into my 89 RX and used a TD04. I had almost NO clearance between the elbow and the intake manifold. How did you get the turbo to angle back like that?
I see theres not turbo to block bracket, is that why?

not sure, seems to sit back like that because of how it sits on the up pipe.

My td04 fits exactly like that and I don't have the turbo bracket on mine.

I kind of had the same issue. I had trim my 90* elbow back a lot. Almost to where my t-clamp had not enough to bite onto, and still my elbow touches the manifold by i'd say 3/4 inch. Its definitely got an oval shape to the elbow looking down into it...

looking at buying this elbow. But $65??? is it still holding up fine? Thats steep for a freakin elbow, but if this is the only one I can find that won't hit, i might as well get it

How long has it been on? Ill probably go ahead and order it when I get payed.... i just feel like $65 is rediculous for a silicone 90. But I suppose if its exactly what we need then Im gonna have to end up getting one.
