Got the oil reservoir in the mail today, 37235AA000, and it is NOT the angled version. It IS the standard version, straight up. Jamie is going to do some research and see if she can figure out which one is the offset one in the picture.

Threshld1, were you able to get the part number for the clutch master cylinder you have with the offset oil reservoir? The reservoir by itself is probably not available. May have to buy the whole assy., approx. $84.00.

So i got the IC off today and i took a look at this infamous offset clutch MC. The only thing i can find written on it anywhere is NABCO Japan on one side and 5/8 on the other. Cant see anything else that would designate what model it would be. Hope this helps at all.

Darn! To get that oil reservoir you would probably have to buy the whole clutch master cylinder. Now we just need to figure out what application it was called out for. I haven't stopped trying to get one, just slowing down some.

Check this clutch master cylinder out. A lot to pay for a reservoir, but do you think it is of the kind we are lookin for?

http://www.machv.com/oemclutmascy.html

After looking at this web page I realize now that this clutch master cylinder is for a Mitsub. Eclipse. It looks like that reservoir could be the right diameter to clamp onto our clutch master cylinder though. Rotate it so the nipple, or whatever is under the blue cap, faces outboard

Still looking for an offset oil reservoir. This one is at www.autopartsworld.com It is made by Tokico, not Nabco, but the reservoir looks like it would fit on the Nabco bocy.

Here is their part number I3000-101078. This reservoir looks vey much like the one on thresholds car.

I installed one of the offset oil reservoirs that Blackbart is selling in the parts shed, http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=27271

It is the one I have been looking for. It cleaned up real good and fits right on.

Also, when I installed it, there was an air bubble that was trapped on the sides. I ended up taking the resevoir out and moving it around until the bubble came to the surface. This bubble probably would have come to the top under driving.

air bubble

Post by kleinkid »

Mine had the air bubble under the angled gusset in the section right above the CMC, drove it and it rose and went away. It concerned me for a few minutes. I tried bouncing the car to get it to go away while parked, car don't bounce much with AGX and Control Springs!

I jacked the car up, and it didn't work ;)

Since I had everything apart, I just took the MC off. If I didn't, I would've just drove around.

Did anyone ever find out the Subaru part number for the offset reservoir? Or for the master cylinder that includes it?

Yes, digging up an old thread but seems relevant....

I decided I'm in need of the offset clutch reservoir. I'm tired of my 07 TMIC banging against the straight reservoir, even though I chopped a good 1+ " off from the bottom.

Called up the local subaru dealer parts department and talked to him about the offset clutch res. Sent him the nice picture Legacy777 has, which helped to prove its existance. Apparently in the parts catalog for the 94 turbo legacy, it shows the clutch res as the offset one! He ordered up that part from the Portland store and it arrived a few days later. Unfortunately, it ended up being the straight clutch res. The parts guy then called up Subaru, sent them the picture of the offset one to find out what the deal was. They stated they'll look into it and get back to him in a few days. Additionally, the parts guy talked to one of the Subaru techs, who happened to own an 'early turbo legacy' and it DID have the offset clutch res; so more validation the part does really exist.

More to come once I find out more...

I got my offset resevoir from Frank (blackbart). I think there may be a thread somewhere, maybe parts shed where he had these for sale and it had some info on what car they came from.

I am pretty sure they come off the left hand drive european turbos cars. We would need someone in Germany or the Netherlands to help us out. I don't know what other countries are left hand drivers.

I have a swedish LHD turbo with offset reservoir. I dunno if the clears a tmic yet, but I'm replacing the awic pretty soon (meaning a couple of days, I have a 99 wrx tmic waiting).
If it works out I'll visit the local dealer and get a part number.

Please do. Then order a shit load of them and sell them to us! Maybe would go do a group buy through you! They should be pretty cheap. The straight one for the USDM cars is only like $8 on 1stsubaruparts.com

It's too bad you can't order other country's subaru parts through sites like 1stsubaruparts.com or through the local stealership.

I would be in for one too. To make it easier they could be shipped to one person in the US and then distributed from there. How about it.
