ok so this might be a dumb question but, i have this legacy, 1993 EJ22e and so far i have
TD04
oem exhaust manifold, uppipe and downpipe
apexi s-afc2
apexi s-itc
aem wideband
My question is, do I really need an intercooler ?
as far as i know the usdm 1.gen turbo had no intercooler ?
i will only be running 6-7psi at the most and a "hot day" here in the summer is around 20°c
i dont want all the hassle of making a front mount fit behind my bumper and having all this piping in my bay,
i do have a 1997 wrx intercooler but i also don´t want to put a scoop on my hood
what do you guys think ?
Do i really need a cooler ?

You could probably get by without an intercooler. If you don't want to put one in, I'd maybe suggest installing an intake air temp sensor in the intake piping post turbo and have that tied to a gauge in the car. That way you at least have an idea if the intake air temps are climbing too high.

Re: Do i really need a cooler ?
i´m going to pull cold air in from inside the fender or bumper and i´m thinking about running meth injection, i don´t intend on drag racing or anything, just a fun daily driver
and yeah, a air temp gauge is a good idea, then i can atleast see what´s going on

Good option....skid542 on here ran meth (maybe still does?) w/no IC and bumped the boost up to @ least 12psi w/no problems.oskar_subaru wrote:... i´m thinking about running meth injection..

No, EJ22T. On the 'E' w/6-7psi Meth would just add insurance.Baddog wrote:On a EJ22 "E" ?wtdash wrote:Good option....skid542 on here ran meth (maybe still does?) w/no IC and bumped the boost up to @ least 12psi w/no problems.oskar_subaru wrote:... i´m thinking about running meth injection..
