FMIC install video - Mighty Car Mods

Post by Dominator »

I'm a fan of the Mighty Car Mods guys. Two guys doing DIY stuff to cars over in Australia. They've been doing web-isodes for the last couple years, all of it available on youtube and their website at http://www.mightycarmods.com/
Your number #1 Car Modification Show
They have been described as Top Gear meets Waynes World. Some say it is more like Pimp My Ride meets Myth Busters. Which ever way you describe it, one thing is clear: This isn't your average auto show. Mighty Car Mods started in early 2008, created by Moog and Marty, who present the show.
The reason I'm posting in the intercooling category is that I just came across this video today. Marty, one of the hosts, has a Turbo Legacy wagon. He's fitting a FMIC to it in this video.

Check it out here.

If you look through the other videos you will find more Subaru related things. The latest episode feature his "new" car, and it's about a 20 minute video. Pretty good stuff.

Also, I don't work for them, or get paid to pitch them, I just think they're funny as hell and informative, and I wanted to share. Hope you all enjoy.

That was actually quite inspiring, thanks! I really like his innovative thinking and his idea for cutting the hose to fit over the sharp metal edge around the intercooler piping was genius. Simple but very effective. I'll be stealing that idea in the future.

I plan to be FMIC by the end of the year. Maybe even 257 by then as well...you never know!

Right on, I've been watching your build progress. I'm sure you'll document the steps you take in there too. Good luck with it. I'm still bench building my projects. Until I get back in the black it's gonna be a little bit at a time for me.

That seems like a pretty good show, thanks for the into. Never even heard of them before.

Kimo your build thread is awesome, I kinda quit working on mine. because I haven't been taking nearly enough pics for my progress and I also kinda like to keep some of the stuff a secret lol. But anyone that has questions about how to do something it feels really good to be able to answer their questions because I remember being in their spot and how hard it is to get answers sometimes.

I'm going to resurrect this thread from the dead and say, THIS VIDEO IS SO HELPFUL. Even though he has a dinky crash bar on the front of his car, this helps me understand how to mount my fmic

Give this a watch! It puts logic behind the claim that an insulating paint would improve a convection intercooler.
