so wtf?! broken pistons!

Post by bmxkelowna »

okay here is the back story

td05 - dohc - saab tmic - apexi intake - 2.5" exhaust

as you all know my car is rwd and i actuality drift it and as you know drifting is a lot of 100% throttle and revlimiter
i know i need bigger injectors and some sort of tunning

this has happened to me twice now in two different blocks
both times in the same cylinder (#4 drivers side back cylinder) and on the top of the piston

so im thinking i might have a bad injector so ive dropped them off to get flow tested and cleaned and he is going to try and bumped them up past 370 if he can

but if all the injectors come back good then what is causing this, because #4 is the 1st one to get fuel.

I think you answered your own question. You have a td05 with small injectors and no tuning??? what are you at for boost??....this is going to keep happening to you if you dont do something.

I've got data logs that show the TD05H-16G even at ~8 PSI maxes out the injectors (using JECS MAF) around 4500 rpm (when the ECU is in safe mode).

Static injectors don't control fuel worth shit.

That and what have you done for the cooling system? High load and slow speeds aren't going to help.

You tuning otherwise this will keep happening. The stock windowed pistons aren't helping either.

Yeah, I was going to mention what Dan mentioned. If you look at the pistons, there's a big hole under the sides of the pistons on the sides where they broke. Not exactly good for strength.
