Speed cable, where to buy?

Post by 93wagonship »

Hi guys,

My speedo cable broke down in two pieces and I'm unable to find a replacement here in Brazil. Anyone know where I can get one online?

It's a 1993 Legacy Touring wagon 2.2 with 5MT.

The transmission end of the cable (kind of a screwdriver - see pic bellow) is still in there as I was unable to dettach the neck from the transmission. I'm planning on removing the transmission for a clutch job anyway and then deal with the speedo altogether.

For now, I got a intermitent check engine light and the engine hesitating occassionally for a quick sec.

Cheers

Maybe I've found a way out. Some other cars cables are just alike. Bought one for less than $5 bucks. Now finally removed the metal neck from the transmission and will silver weld new cable + screwdriver-like end. Let's hope it works. Anyways, a link to a new cable is welcome.

cheers

Depending on which part you need:

subarugenuineparts.com or ebay

Looks like the parts might be compatible between early 1st gen legacys and the earliest 1st gen imprezas as well. In case you have a junkyard nearby with imprezas or legacys.
