Yeah, don't mention it. One of the things i enjoy most over there is taking pictures of cars.

Dude! Thanks, those were awesome and makes me want to go over even more. Sometimes I want to sell my Miata to fund a trip. I just love how the car culture is ingrained into there society.

Other news, Subaru need to stop being ass hats and sell the Levorg over here.

Ha! Thanks Tony, it's a great trip. Some one made a similar comment on the forester boards about wanting to go, so i'm going to just copy and paste my reply lol.

"God i would hope so. Wagons don't seem to do so hot over here though.

Also, Tokyo is a great trip. And fairly reasonably priced if you're from one of the more expensive US areas. Hotels in Shinjuku literally a 5 or 10 minute walk from the main JR station can be had for like 160 or so a night. Food is easily comparably priced (at least comparable to Seattle) but there's no tip culturally, so there's a savings of 10 to 20 percent. If you were being frugal you could eat on 20 to 30 a day. Tickets can be had from Seattle or California for like 600 to 800 dollars direct if you're paying attention. Hell, I saw round trip direct tickets out of LAX for 465 not too long ago. Transportation, depending on what you do in the city, is probably about 5 to 15 dollars a day. All assuming the exchange rate stays the same, of course."

Thanks for sharing Kijan!

Did you go up in Skytree? What about Maricar (Mario kart)?

Those of you that have/are contemplating going to Japan, all I have to say is do it! Save your money and find a way to make it happen. This summer was my fifth trip there and I still love going. You can get around in Tokyo via public transportation quite well and most things transportation related are also in English.

Yeah, Tokyo is fine for English speakers. It gets a little more difficult with outside in like Kyoto or whatever, but is still manageable. If you have Tmobile, you'll have free 2g mobile data there. If not, all the carries have plans for international data. And even then, if that doesn't work, you can get a mobile hot spot to rent.

Josh, Yeah did skytree this time around on someone's suggestion. It was really nice. Much better than i expected. But i didn't go to the top.

There's some maricar pictures in this batch. I saw a group in Roppongi cruising around. I didn't do the tour as i wasn't certain if there would be a language barrier there, especially since it's a potentially more dangerous activity. I mean, like, you could get in a fender bender if you weren't paying attention or whatever.

Most of the time i hang out on stations off the Yamanote line. I had a chance to head over to Kyoto this time though, so that was nice. My main haunts are Shinjuku, Yoyogi, Akihabara, and sometimes Ikebukuro.

Yeah, skytree is pretty cool and I had to go to the top :)

You are in a group being led with Maricar, so it's very structured and organized. They've got a lead and chase kart and speak good enough English. You do have to have an international driver's permit from AAA though.

Good stuff. I always get hassled by my companions for taking pictures of cars when in Tokyo, but, how can I not?!
