Dynoed the car today

Post by BSOD2600 »

Went to Kito auto sports and got a baseline on my practically stock TW. As of the morning, the only 'non-stock' things are the 5MT a Hallman boost controller turned to ~10 psi. Soon as I got home from the dyno, installed a Walbro and 3" turboback exhaust.

Max:
HP: 136 (red line)
Torque: 147 (blue line)
Boost: 10.7 (yellow line)

It was my understanding that a stock turbo legacy was 160 hp / 181 ft lbs torque. Sure, I realize there is some loss due to the drivetrain, etc. So that being the case, the 160 hp number is at the crank? How would I then go about calculating how much of an improvement over stock my current setup is?

Anyways, I plan on getting it dynoed again once I've got a VF39 and 06 TMIC installed in a few months. I'm curious to see the raw numbers of the increase. Anyone else have their upgrade performance documented with dyno runs?

Yes, advertising #s are all at the crank. So with a 20% drivetrain loss, thats pretty damn good.

Great to see stock dyno #'s, even if they are 15 years old NEW! :)

Good #'s, indeed. There're some dyno posts here @~160hp w/ a tmic and 3" d/p and exhaust, so that looks about right. Still nice to see a reference, though. Also, what are you planning to do about fuel delivery, i.e. injectors/ rrfpr?

Thanks for the complements, but don't forget that's not entirely a 'stock' TW ;-).

Was hoping use the 440cc's and stock ECU to manage them. Basically I want to take the car the edge of what the ECU can do and not have to go with a piggyback or ECU replacement. As for the RRFPR, I suppose the Vortech? Haven't actually given that aspect much thought yet.

They didn't hook up a wideband for you and plot the AFRs?

Was going to, but I know I had an exhaust leak in my muffler, so they didn't. Was yet another reason for me to upgrade my exhaust to 3" straight through :).
