SPT Shortthrow shifter review

Post by jgrahn555@hotmail.com »

hi all...

I installed the SPT Shortthrow shifter last weekend, and have spent
all week "evaluating" it.

Installation was very simple! It wend in almost as easily as the old
one came out. my only problem was that i didn't have a punch-pin
thingie to get out the shifter retaining pin, so i had to borrow a
neighbors. If you plan on installing it, remember to keep the spring
from your old one, you'll need it for the shortthrow.

But down to the gritty. As my shifter bushings were 11 years old,
these new ones are quite firm! The shift is about half of the old
throw, and again, very firm. banging through the gears is nice and
solid, definitly reduces shift time.

https://ssl.autocenter.net/webparts/aca ... e_Drive_Tr
ain_504.html

At just over $200 bucks, it's something cool to do if you have a
couple bucks lying around that you can't decide what to do with. I
suppose i could have saved it for tuition, but what the hell, i only
live february 2001 once, right?

On another note; we finally have some real snow up here in Washington
(at least for a couple more hours)... Happy AWD hunting!

Jason

That's what everyone says. But guess what, they're the same. yeah, don't
listen to any of that crap when you go to the dealer and ask for it, cuz if
they hassle you, then they don't know what they're talking about. It's one
of the reasons that i got mine from subaruparts.com, no hassle.

SPT Shortthrow shifter review

Post by jason grahn »

close, SPT is like the ricey USA version of STi.

STi = subaru technica international (or seomething like that)
SPT = subaru performance tuning

personal believe is that this is the only thing that SPT "makes" that is
worth any good.

for the record, I'm not sure if they're different or not. SPT was announced
by SOA last year to get get more money from the impreza fanatics, i'm not
sure if it was intentional or not, but a lot of the SPT stuff bolts to our
1st gen. legacies. check out:
