got a question for eveyone, pros cons.
should i use chimeny stack like turbo legacys have or i seen another one subaru makes that i have that just covers the turbo. should it be cold or should i make it hot.
cooling turbo or heatting turbo

the turbo's hot side should be hot, but you don't want the engine to be hot. That's why the chimney is on stock turbo legs, so when the car sits idle, the heat rises out of the engine compartment and doesn't heat soak the intake system. The ideal situation would be to wrap the hot side of the turbo with an insulator (like header wrap) so that the exhaust stays hot but the engine bay stays cool. Be carefull doing this on an internaly wastegated turbo though, as the wrap can easily interfere with the wategate actuator arm.

The chimney mainly vents heat.
More underhood heat can be vented by drilling 5/8 or 3/4 inch holes on the leading side of the shroud that conducts the hot air to the scoop.

thats not bad but i have a gc japan hood and the legacy shield dont fit , wish it did cuz i got a sweet set up right now on my car.

IIRC there are universal turbo insulator jackets that might work better than header wrap. Seems I have seen them somewhere. I think it was in the Advanced Auto Special Order Section. Might look a little neater than header wrap.
