well it kinda croaked..... a little while back my water pump seized when my girlfriend was driving my car cuz hers was in the shop car overheated. no biggie replaced that. then on tuesday mr rad split open and pissed fluid everywhere, as a result of this the car overheated again.... so i replaced the rad and had it all bled out nicely the heat was warm the stat opened and fans switched on and off as they should.... car was fine all night while i was driving in the city, drove a 15 minute highway trip fine but on the way back the air from the heater went cold... no good i thought that's what it did when the water pump poo'd the bit. Thankfully my neighbour a Subaru mechanic is a really cool guy and he looked at it and we did everything all over again to the same result great in the city crap on the highway... so we checked a few more thing and cme to the conclusion my head gskets were shot...
so instead of just fixing that, i'm swapping in a different ej22 tommorrow courtesy of my neighbour (you should see this guys basement, if he a had a chassis or he could build an entire car and probably a second one!)
so for $250 CAN he's gonna swap my engine. the old beast was burning oil and was getting kinda tired, still performed great (well as good as being inferior a turbo can perform!).
so i wanna rebuild it to it's former glory so to speak, with some improvements of course....
well here it goes, Any Suggestions as to upgrades e.t.c? open to anything but a turbo cuz that'll be just a big pain in the ass and i'm not into racing or anything crazy. any input would be great.... sorry bout the book!

Custom high compression pistons, mild cams, maybe a little handy work on the heads, and replace all wear items.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
Of course high on the list where the wear items like rings bearings and such u know most of the stuff that a general rebuild entails... what kind of work to the heads cold i do? i know the obvious overhaul andd port and polish but is there anything else? i've looked through alot of the threads here i'm very interested in the supercharger idea, but i would have to drop my compression correct? what would be the best way to do that? ej22t pistons? do they fit? or could i swap 2.5l heads to drop compression to run low boost the supercharger thing is cool and interesting i'd like to know more about it, but it's not likely i'll attempt that. what about cams any reccomendations, i would love to pick up a greddy emanage but that might be in a little while... open to any suggestions...... i wanted to do the franken motor but this whole head gasket issue kinda burned me, i would do it if my truck wasn't in the garage half apart, and i'll be damned if that clean body is introduced to salt! (just a little toooo pristine for an 89 to let it go to waste, plus it's so low it will be a snow plow in these canadian winters). why couldn't my car just wait till the spring to be a pain in the ass i don't know but that crap never works to my benefit anyways.... (sorry if my spelling sux i just came home from the bar and 12 beers just doesn't do wonder for the old thinker).
