10 ways to update the outside of your Legacy!

Post by livestrong14 »

Hey guys, thought I'd share my project for the day. I just finished replacing the window molding on my SS. Thanks to some helpful hints from NICO, I was able to remove the factory window molding that connects to the door. Here is an example of what I am taking about...

Mine:

Compared to stock:

The newer molding is black from the factory, and deletes the stupid little triangle piece like on our 90/91 sedans.

Some other ways to update the outside:

1. Removing pinstripes
2. Black window trim (around the rear triangle windows and piece under rear window)
3. Body colored side moldings or all black (paint or electrical tape method)
4. Body colored door handles
5. Body colored mirrors
6. Shaved side emblems
7. Custom grill
8. Customize your corner lights (all amber or all clear)
9. Clean those headlights! those of you with plastic ones

Most of these are inexpensive mods, (minus the ones that require painting)

Just some ideas, thought I would share

I hate those platic trim pieces, I can't seem to find which clips I need to replace in order to get that thing to stay in there!

But they have the same door. Ahead of the C-pillar, there's no difference in sheet metal and the trim resides entirely ahead of the C-pillar. The wagon wouldn't have the weird little triangle chrome piece since there's no jog in the window line past the C-pillar—the horizontal line continues to the D-pillar—so there would be nothing for that little triangle to try to match up to.

wow looks sick, so the wagon trim comes all black wit out the crome on it?

shoot i dont know what to do now, paint the trim the same colour of the car, or all black, or stock with the crome for some effect.

Damn dude your car is badass. I was debating painting my trim to match when I repaint my hood, and I think you just ended that debate.

Any more pics?

We used an eastwood fender roller from Surgeline. It is a really great tool.

Did you paint your trim flat black? I thought you removed a piece of the rest of it too, but a few Legacys at the junkyard tell me otherwise. Mine's starting to chip :( so I might be repainting it

Ohh ok, kinda figured but I wasn't sure after the next guy didn't correct you. Still don't know a whole lot about these cars.
