Quick question on bushing install

Post by macipusy »

I am trying to press in a set of polyurethane control arm bushings into 99 Outback brackets.

My question is which direction on the bushing should face toward the front of the car?

The bushing has two different lips....one side has a chamfered lip and the other a beefy square profile. The side with the sqare profile lip also has a funnel like chamfer in the center where the metal sleeve will fit in.

I was thinking the fat lip will sit against the washer and nut of the control are....could anybody confirm this?

Is this for the front control arm, rear bushing?

If so, the "funnel" part should face towards the front of the car. The rod that the bushing slides onto is larger at the front then the rear.

Yes, it is the front control arm rear bushing.

Thanks for the info.

Installed the poly bushings into the 99 Outback control arm brackets and it works great.

These were the bushings designed for a WRX with the non tapered inner sleeve....no problems yet.
