That's true. For some reason my girlfriend told everyone I work with that she calls me kiki. Which she doesn't so I don't know why she said that but I get a lot of shit from them now about it. I call my cat that!

Kind of like saying kitty kitty without really pronouncing the t's.

I almost bought a kartboy shifter off NASIOC last night. But I buckled down and said, NO! Gotta buy christmas presents while I still have money. And not for myself.

We just got dumped on the east coast with snow, all along the east coast from NC to NY. Here in VA, especially in my neck of the woods, we got 17" in one day!! I was so happy that we finally got a good amount of snow. I loved going out and playing in my Subaru!

It started about 3pm on Friday afternoon...

Image

It snowed all day and night and woke up to a lot more than I had anticipated. The Subaru did well except for some obvious ground clearance issues with 17" of snow. It never had a problem getting around and I loved trying to rally everywhere I went. It was tons of fun and I look forward to it snowing more this winter.

Some pictures of the fun this weekend!

The little Subaru is a tank! I was very impressed with it and I loved putting the AWD to the test!

I saw that crazy snow storm they had. It snowed like 3" in an hour. It was so bad they had this lady on the phone who had been in this traffic jam for 17 hours and had gone 10 miles. I don't know how she didn't freeze to death. You can't run your car that long so you'd be freezing your ass off.

They said at least 5 people had already died in the storm and that was yesterday morning.

But I agree it's quite fun to drive in if you'd got a subaru.

Good, I would think. The second to last photo even looks something like the gray-scale one of Duchess on the dedication page of my book.

cool, duchess does look good.

it seemed like it was the only logical place to put the fog light without fabricating something up.

Yeah, I didn't want them underneath where they'd be smashed and on top seems to intimidate left-lane parade floats into moving aside, but the mounting I chose was a serious PITA to keep solid. I'm contemplating whether or not I want to reinstall them with the restoration and how I want to mount them this time around. I mounted mine through the bumper cover to the beam with standoffs mounted behind the lights in the outer edges of the grille to hold them steady. The problem was that the bumper cover became the mounting surface and it's really not meant for that.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. I know the bumper isn't a very stable location for the lights, but I was thinking about some sort of metal above and below the bumper to provide more surface area for a sturdy mounting location. I mean, they aren't "bad" like they are now, but not perfect. I'm thinking of adding two more lights as well to mine and I think I might fab something up in order to really make everything sturdy.

Today, I went ahead and changed out my valve cover gaskets, grommets, and the oil neck filler o-ring. It wasn't too bad of a job, but did require some patience. It was only three 10mm bolts on each valve cover to take off.

Image

The parts that I required....thanks for your help Legacy777!!

Image

Image

It was a pretty straight forward job, nothing too complicated. And from what posts I had read and what everyone was saying, I believe it was the grommets that were the major cause of the valve covers leaking oil.

I also added a few exterior mods today.. :)

Looking great, man! I really wish I could've kept my '93 LS, just no room for another dead car right now. Love the snow fun shots!

Polish up those headlights! :P

You didn't tighten the bolts much, did you? I forget the spec, but it seems barely enough to hold them. Much more and they leak. Wish there was a little better set up, but it does work if you tighten to spec.

I noticed when I took the old bolts off that they weren't that tight, so when I put them back on I tightened just enough to get a good bite but I didn't overtighten. Thank you for the heads up! Any idea on the torque spec?

Not a fan of DC kimo? Why not? 8)

Thank you for the compliments on the wagon...it is coming along quite nicely and I love driving it. It really feels like a completely different car.

Also....just turned over 214,000 miles yesterday!!

I dunno, I just don't like the big brands much for the most part. I wear a DC hoodie just about every day but only because it's got that warm fleece fur material inside and keeps me warm. I don't like DC though lol.

I like the smaller companies that are more down to earth.
