Then before all other steps use the Final Wipe instead of the W&G Remover as it evaporates and will not leave any petroleum residue as the W&G will. Of coarse it's fine with most products and thats the way the majority of people do, he just mentioned he has heard horror stories with certain products reacting.

If everything has worked out for you, why change it. Here is the products he recommended :

Thanks for the Tips :!: :)
It's worked great for me on a few cars now, it could be a case of salesman trying to sell a product, I did not sand any of my plastic panels though as It has the texture to it that I try to leave as it was from factory, that's also why I use an airbrush as I mentioned earlier as It lays on very thin. I would be happy to use the product you posted as it's obviously designed for the application but I don't think you would have problems with either method.

Definitely, I don't even wanna think of $ spent of the numerous products, materials and tools to get this thing done, but in the long run the learning experience, $ saved and just to be able to say that did it yourself. Makes it all worth while. At least thats what i hope, since i've never actually finished any of my projects

Can't wait to see yours complete, amazing that you have any time with all the other projects :!:

I am in the process of rebuilding all the parts off the legacy and once complete I will offer the complete drivetrain from my Legacy all rebuilt for sale. Today I finished the knuckles complete with new factory bearing and seals, I will be using later Impreza ones on my car.

Do you mind me asking what kind of paint/coatings you're applying to all these parts to get them back to looking like new? I'm assuming everything's getting sand blasted, primered or a combo paint & primer in one, but just curious what sort of products you're using.

Thanks

I have been sanding and prepping the car for painting, it's been a very big job but I am nearly finished and it should be away to the paint shop soon, then finally some assembly work can begin.

-I didn't even know our cars came with manual windows. Hmmm, learn something new everyday.

Thanks, I have emailed him, I appreciate the info, it is obviously a very important part of my project, even if they are blue I would probably get them!

Hi Guys, sorry about the updates, I had been very busy with the prep work for painting and then I went away to work for an ALMS team back in Indianapolis and then to Sebring for the 12hr race so The car did not go to paint. I am going to work for the team for Long Bech and Laguna Seca also and that will slow things down a little. We finished fourth overall in Sebring.
In regards to painting the knuckles and backing plates, I sandblasted the parts at the shop and painted them with an engine high temp paint..

I have been away working for an ALMS team so the Legacy project was set behind a few weeks, however the experience was well worth it

I really dislike how racing has become so politically correct. If you touch someone you're penalized and they aren't always consistent in their penalties. Typical sanctioning body.

I really have no reason to watch the Continental GT races now as Phoenix racing is running a mustang just like most everybody else. I don't know if Subaru pulled their support or what.

The shell looks great! Looking forward to seeing some assembly.

Is that a non-turbo shell? I thought that all the Japanese built cars (all turbos AFAIK) had the firewall pre-punched for the clutch master cylinder. Maybe it is and I can't see it through the shine?
