Look my motor is BLOWN! xO

Post by Hinano »

Just got the heads off to find this…. Looks like someone tried to put some kind of sealant stuff to seal the head gaskets.. I've started looking for a new motor.

Some of the connections between the cylinder wall and block also seem to be broken… :(

I've started looking for another motor. Available is 03 forester 2.5, 2000 Forester 2.5, 96 impreza 2.2 and another ej22. Researching which way to go now, suggestions are welcome.

I'd suggest another ej22, impreza or legacy. That looks cleanable, but you probably don't wanna see what's in the bottom end.

Jesus, this thing was running? By the look of the cylinder walls, it looks like it would be seized.

holy crap, that's bad.

your best option for replacement is another ej22 or ej18 with your intake manifold bolted onto it and tossed back in the car.

That is DISGUSTING! I'm amazed it even ran, too! Looks like it had been sitting for YEARS!

No, forget I said that. Even if you can it aint worth it. EJ22s are a dime a dozen, and 99% havent been mistreated like this.
