Re: OBD1
Do you have the oxygen sensor hooked up? If you do, I would check the wiring from the oxygen sensor to the ECU.
Try clearing the codes and see if the O2 sensor comes back.

Re: OBD1 Reader
O2 is hooked up, but I didnt try clearing the codes. I oreded a new one since this one is pretty gummed up.
I gues the ecu just runs in defualt mode since O2 not working? Maybe this is why plugs so clean.

Re: OBD1 Reader
The O2 sensor is responsible for closed loop running and affects fuel trims which can increase power and/or improve fuel economy over time, depending on how you drive fuel type/quality, etc.
If the O2 sensor isn't work, the ECU stays in open loop mode and performs fueling via the fuel tables.

Re: OBD1 Reader
I used different software (Revscan) but I didn't need to plug the black or green connectors in to read values or reset codes.

Re: OBD1 Reader
No, you don't need to have the diagnostic connectors when you use the scan tool.
