crankshaft and camshaft sensor codes

Post by YetiSmasher »

so basically to sum it up, i bought a 93 tw with a 5 speed swap in it. when the guy put the 5mt in he ripped the pig tails that come out of the engine harness for the crank and camshaft sensors... then he decided to solder a whole bunch of wires to make it run somehow. When i pulled the top mount off for the first time to fix a vacuum leak i thought was there, the soldering he had done completely ripped apart and now my wagon is dead in the water. After much thought and frustration i came to the conclusion that i would just cut the pig tails on the harness and try to butt connect them with another pair of pig tails from my 91 ss that i had wrecked. still no luck... i checked the obd 1 and its saying crank and camshaft codes. my car will not turn over or anything. I'm wondering if i need to buy a whole new harness and sensors at this point which is the last thing i want to do. any suggestions?

I would think it would still turn over, just not fire with those problems? Have u bypassed the ignition switch to see if it will turn over? Sounds like some Hackery to me. If u have a spare engine harness, could just pop the intake off and swap it??? See if it helps? A couple months ago I ran into a no start/barely run problem, and after 2 weeks of chasing things, it was just the engine harness ground on the back of the intake that was lose. Don't know if that helps????

Do you have a picture of where this said ground is located? I am unfamiliar with it

I can get a pic later, but it's on the drivers side on the back of the intake itself, near where it bolts to the head, facing the firewall, right near the injector. Hard to explain, I know Josh has pictures on here that show exactly where it is, after reading his posts is how I found it on mine.
