You're fortunate enough to live where you don't need to worry about burglaries. I know people that have been both burglarized and those that have stopped a burglar because they had a gun. You don't have to fire a shot to make a point with an intruder, the sound of a hammer cocking is a very disntictive sound. Personally, if someone breaks into my home they are on my territory. If they want to try and steal what is mine and what I treasure they'd better be prepared for a fight. Also, if I'm married or have a gf, you can bet your ass they are going to remain safe if someone comes into the master bed looking for jewels or who knows else. It comes down to what a person values and believes is worth standing up for. I place a lot of value on sentiment and most of my possesions are worth far more sentimentally than monetarily and insurance can't replace sentimental items. Just my personal feelings on the issue.

Ther are too many people in the world (though props to Italy and Australia who are naturally breeding less). Most of these people are utterly worthless, some dumber than critters I've run over. Guns kill people. Law of averages states that the majority will be from the worthless category. Guns are good. It's too bad wars can upset this balance. BTW despite my like for guns, I hate Bush and think he should be executed along with Rumsfeld and Cheney for treason. Why is it the US has become the Confederacy? I thought us northerners won that. Guess someone miswrote the history books I had in school. Sorry, going off-topic again. I was just thinking about Rumsfeld's recent comments to the troops. No wonder the administration kept him hidden for months before the election. Silver-spoon pussies.

Yea, i wish... Within 3 blocks
2 strip clubs
1 porn theatre
6 liquor stores
1 mental institution
I don't worry because it's not worth my time. If i worry about burglars pretty soon ill start wearing a tinfoil hat and calling in sick when it's a chartreuse terror alert.

Scott, that phrase cracked me up, thanks. I can see where you are coming from, my raising has obviously been different than your's which is certainly cool. The world needs different view points to keep things balanced.

Steve, you damn yankees have never figured it out. We've just been waiting for the right time to take it back ;). But seriously, I don't keep up enough with politics to know what you are referring to so I'll keep shut but as a southern boy I feel I should at least say the confederacy wasn't all bad and remember.... heritage, not hate.

And with that guys, I've enjoyed this discussion but I'm stepping out.

We have found some WMD's and some evidence of a WMD program.

I think people who use inflamitory comments instead of facts in a conversation are pussies.
thats what they tell you, and you beleive it......

think about it, all the bad press about no WMD's and invading a country.... if they actually did find some they would get the press off their ass by releasing information about the WMD's and programs, sounds like they are trying to keep troop moral up and positive to me...

rsstiboy - it was something I read in the news. It stated that the government was offering a couple thousand dollars in tax breaks or as a bonus or something for couples if they had a child. didn't sound from the people they interviewed that it was working as the ones they got for the article were laughing at the measly sum compared to ow much it costs to raise a kid. In Italy, they said there are towns in danger of shutting schools for no kids to attend them. Apparently the women refuse to work, raise kids, and take care of their husbands who expect the women to treat them like their mothers. Whatever the reason, the less people the better IMO.

i agree, people suck. yeah the government increased the baby bonus, but only because it hasn't been following inflation rates, so now they are playing catch up, costs of living have increased dramatically in the last 15 years over here.

scottzg, I have personaly been involved in a few raids that have involved chemicals, some of them precursors to chemical weapons. (the others were for explosives) They all happened to be in residential homes (nobody living there thank God) or buildings owned by members of the former regime.
As for credible news stories I don't know of any. None of the "news" I see about Iraq is credible to me but what do I know I've only been in Iraq 8 months. The "news" never shows what things are realy like here, what's good, what's bad, what's realy going on. They pay some Iraqi a few bucks to go out with a camera then sit safe and sound in a secure hotel and tell you all "how things are going in Iraq" I try not to watch any news because it pisses me off too much.
Debate if it was bad intel or politics that overplayed the extent of the WMD program, but if you think Saddam changed his evil ways, well... I have seen torture rooms with hooks in the celing and blood stains on the walls.

rsstiboy, who "they"??? I'm here, I know who I'm looking for.

"they" are your superiors, the ones in charge of keeping troops focused on acheiving what the government wants you to acheive over there. you don't honestly think they would tell you the truth do you?

my point is the world would be far better off without terrorists, guns, WMD's (oh forgot, IRAQ doesn't have any) and all things bad in this world, it amazes me the amount of problems elsewhere in the world, but when it comes to oil or anything else in americas interests, the USA sticks its nose in. I wish Australia would keep out of it too.

puts flame suit on.....

I don't see what "they" telling me to look for the wrong people would acheive.
I can see by your big "they" thing that you have never been in the service. We are just a bunch of different people, regular people, not sheep.
What I am doing is telling you what I HAVE SEEN over here not what "they" tell me. I am on the streets of Baghdad EVERY DAY, I talk to the people, I see what is going on. I am not repeating anything "they" tell me exept for the terriorists we are looking for. It has a pic, name, and under nationality it does not say Iraqi.

Yup it's all for oil, I bet the USA gets a lot of oil from Somalia, Haiti, Kosovo.... do I need to go on?

Yeah I wish I lived in a nice happy rainbows and unicorns world. We don't. The world is not a very happy place, you can wish all you want. I wish everyone in the nice mordern countries would see some of this up close. It has humbled me.
