Coolant tank location that does work-

Image

Image
the rad nipple line runs to a piece of titanium tubing along the front of the rad and does a 270 turn to the plastic nipple, it eliminates having the pipe line run across the block

thanks for the link matt
Nice thread

Apologies for lack of recent updates, but I can only work with hardware I have on hand.

For those thinking about using a Legacy EJ20H/EJ20R twin turbo intake manifold or engine Slowdrive has a few posts on what he is doing to install his.

This is one of the best threads I've seen. Great work. Keep it up!

Updates to the PCV comments of the EJ25D intake manifold section.

Basically, go catch-can if your doing an EJ25D intake. The proper PCV hoses do not exsist. (I know, big suprise)

Planning a WRX EJ20G to Legacy FAQ for this weekend. Stay tuned.

BTW, I now own my very own digital camera and it's quite nice. So if you would like any pictures of the EJ20H motor I can take pictures of anything you need. The motor is still on the engine stand with the intake off and the timing covers.

I also have EJ20G heads and intake.

Thanks for the great thread. I've got a question... Are there any differences between an EJ20G Legacy intake manifold and a EJ20G WRX intake manifold?

I've got both to compare. I can add pictures if you would like, but there are NO effective differences between the two. Port sizes, and all hardware mounting are the same.

The Legacy manifold has 4 extra tapped holes on top to mount an engine cover, even though I have only ever seen 1 or 2 pics of it. There are small differences in the PCV system, but they are very minor and either system will fit on either manifold.

Awesome, thank you for the answer. No pics needed, sounds close enough.

So when you move the battery from this location, where do you put it? In the trunk?

Slightly off topic, but BMW E30s have heavy gauge 15ft cables for the trunk mounted batteries and they aren't that hard to find junked. Not sure how well it will work on a leggy but I'm planning on giving it a shot.

Yeah I've seen them. Had to change one before when I washed cars at the lincoln mercury mazda dealership. Cheap bastards didn't want to pay the mechanics to do it so they paid me minimum wage to do it instead. I told them it was stupid to replace it because they kept charging it and it would just go dead in a day or two. Tried telling them there was a parasitic draw somewhere that was draining the battery but they didn't believe me. So I replaced it with their brand new one and sure enough like the next day it was dead too haha.

The battery was in the back of that SUV under the spare tire. What a bitch.

kimo. battery is where the spare tire would be, washer bottle is in the fender.

it's the matter of a simple wire from the battery to the starter and starter to fuse engine fuse box.

i used 2 ga welding cable cause it's light and was free.

p.s
still looking for an engine?

Oh, no I guess I should change my signature. I've already bought an EJ20G swap. Thanks for asking though.

Ive been linked to this thread millions of time. but i have a very noob question where i have been given an answer, but i want to confirm.
Ej22t -> 25D DOHC.

Wiring is NOT required correct?

If you use your EJ22T engine harness and throttle body (for the TPS) on the EJ25D, there will be no wiring changes.

Anyone have any dyno results. it would be nice to see something with a td05 running lots of boost before and after head swap

Posted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:42 pm
by kimokalihi
Yeah that would be pretty cool. It would be even cooler just to see the differences between the different heads with the stock VF11 turbo and a more common turbo like the TD04.

I will have some before results with a TD05 stock heads and about 20 psi of boost after Thursday. Not sure if that helps any without the after results though....

ok i'll do the swap soon... ej20g head and manifold... need to know wich head gasket to get? and timing belt?? thanks

Timing belt is 96 legacy DOHC belt I believe.

Get it from the dealer, don't use those cheap aftermarket belts.

ok i've been told that any dohc belt will work wrx or whatever but dohc belt:) and the biggest question is for headgasket?? ej20g or ej22t?? what do i order at the dealer?:P
