Just got the new SubieSport issue, they have a nice write-up on an Australian '91 Liberty RS Turbo.

Well, whaddaya know, there WERE Subarus before the '02 WRX!

Nice mod list, and the car, although a '91, is JDM spec, so it's a facelifted model. Rio red, I think?

People attracted to Subaru when the RS came out were at least decent car enthusiasts.

Many of those attracted to Subaru when the 02 WRX came out in the US are just assholes plain and simple.

I caught that. A few years ago they had another Aussie Liberty featured that was silver. Though look at the engine code they wrote down in the mag...

Most of the WRX people I know are actually halfway-decent people, even though they still think an SVX is old school

It's the STi owners that I can't stand. I've met virtually NO STi owner who isn't a complete and total fuckmonkey.

Most of the bandwagoners of today have no idea its a Subaru when I drive by them. I do get the occasional honks, but very rarely.

NASIOC makes me want to poke my eyes out.

You're right, they do feature GC8s fairly regularly...
What irritated me was the article last month about the ALCAN arctic rally, they published a picture with the Legacy Turbo sedan of a competitor right in the middle of the shot, but did not even acknowledge it's existence in their "Subaru Tally" list of all the 'rus in the race.

Pet Peeve - GC8 = 93-00 Impreza WRX with four doors and a 2 liter turbo engine.
It shouldn't be used as a generic term.

The publisher of Subiesport has driven a LegacySS in the ALCAN before. He crashed it and did not finish the race. He even left the car up there.

No kidding?... they also referenced and showed a shot of a crashed hulk out in the weeds. Probably that very car.

Yup, I left my much-loved SS LGT 5sp in Hay River, NWT after the crash because it would cost in excess of $4000 to ship it back in undrivable condition whereas I only paid $2500 for the original car. There's a point where your own feelings have to be set aside for what is practical and reasonable.

And for those that say we "ignore" the older Legacy models, anyone that knows me personally knows that I'm a huge fan of the SS Lgt in particular. There simply are not that many of these cars that are prepared in a way that would fit a feature. But we found one in Australia, so there ya go.

I've met much better people that own Evos than STIs. The Evo guys are friendlier over Subarus than the STI douches that should've bought a Nazi staff car, but thought they were too original for it or just played to much Playstation. Work those hands out, guys.

nasioc is great if you stick to the motorsports forum and the swap section. OT is a wretched hive of scum and villiany, but it can be fun some times.

How would it need to be prepared for a feature? What about mine? Originally started life as a 1990 Legacy FWD AT non-turbo, now is AWD, MT, turbo with custom AWIC setup, and soon to have a LinkPlus G3 standalone.

I can send all the info in for a readers ride section....but there's just so much that's been done, it'll either not all get published, or there will be information overload and it'll get passed on.

So that's why I ask....would something like my car be applicable for a feature? If not, what are you guys looking for?

We need two things to consider a car for a feature:
- Fits editorially (ie: we won't run two similar cars back-to-back and it has to somehow be "special")
- We can get it photographed (pro shots). This is the biggest hangup for us, as it is a very large country. If you want to get your car featured, send a snapshot and a paragraph that says why you think your car should be featured to travis [@] subiesport.com. We have, on occasion, featured cars that previously appeared in Readers Rides, so that won't totally count you out.

I'm heading out of town for a few days, so I may not reply again to this thread.

Cheers,

A-fuckin-men brother.

I even tell people that call their 94 Impreza 1.8 wagons GC8s to pull out their insurance card and show them their VIN where it doesn't say any GC8 anywhere.

... and they still call it GC8.
