Failed (WA) Emissions Test. Input?

I got my car up and running. It has been sitting for a year. The car is a 94 Legacy Turbo. Stock motor. vf22 ewg'd, 3" DP to a 2.5" STI catback. Catalitic is still in there. I installed a jdm wrx ecu w/ patch harness, and 480cc injectors. (ECU is not STI). Car is venting to atmosphere. Basically, the test consisted of holding the car at 2500 rpm for like 30-45 seconds. These are the results.

HC (PPM) l CO (%) l CO+CO2 (%)
Limit: 220 l 1.2 l 6
Result: 266 l 11.71 l 19.81

Any ideas?

VF22 and 480s and atmosph vent are it. Tuned?
Bet not. Talk to Rob, see if a tune can be made by him to just get you through emissions.

Got any friends outside King County? Register it there. Mine's currently registered in Pullman(I lived there), probably register it in Enumclaw or something when I need tabs. Not that I wouldn't pass, I just don't want to pay extra for the test.

that barely failed. try running a small amount of alcohol through the pvc system to get the cat hotter than normall to burn off the old shit. it helped me every year when i lived up there with my cars that would barely fail! its worth a shot.

Im not even in King. Im in snohomish but still have emissions.
On a side note, i don't have my pcv system connected at the moment. I have a catch can Im trying to install. You think that's what made me fail? I didn't think it affected emissions. As for talking to Rob, i guess i can just pull the robtune ecu out of my 91. I just have it buried under the dash, and i didn't wanna pull it out because it was such a pita to get it up there. But i too thought about doing that.

You're probably running rich at idle due to the venting to atmosphere. Are you sure it's not venting when at idle? If you can hook up a recirc for the test, that'd probably help.

Also make sure to go in there after you've got the cat nice and hot.

I know the revtronix chip and no cat can pass WA emissions (http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45181) so probably related to your lack of PCV.

If you have it rob tuned, then I would go with most of the above mentioned posts.
#1 Get the PCV hooked up.
#2. Run the atmospheric vent back to recirc.
#3. Get the cat boiling hot before you go in.

( but I still think with the 480's you are going to run too rich)- so I would address that also

Not running the Robtune. That's in my other car. I will swap in my robtuned ecu for me retest though. This one is just running a jdm wrx stock ecu.

What size injectors does the stock JDM WRX have?

Then yeah the 480's will still likely cause it to run rich

Hmm. Well the robtune is for the 525 injectors so that should work when i drop in the other ecu.

Yeah, it should run lean. I definitely wouldn't get on it though. Just drive it enough to get things warmed up and to the inspection station.

Well, i went in for my re test, and FAILED again. I swapped in my Robtune, which is tuned for 525's, and I'm running 480's. The car actally failed by a little more then last time...

All i did was swap in the robtune. And drive it @high rpms. Oh and new gas. Now that i drove the car around all day today i did notice that sulfur smell, so i do know its running rich.

id put back the other ecu , hook up the pcv, put the bypass to recirculate like it should. What is your vacuum at idle? Hopefully about 18 hg or 8 psi.
