The background picture at http://www.subaru-global.com/about/moto ... index.html suggests that it might be unequal-length, since the exhaust manifold outlet appears to be on the right side of the car.

I think it is. I saw a video of a guy driving it and it sounds good.

What's better is that it's *factory* twincharged. I'm not won over by the spoiler, but finally this has some power to go with it's looks. No lag at any rpm :)

I don't understand. Factory? Like a trd option? I didn't think they had any plans for forced induction from the factory.

I'd never heard of em but I guess GRMN is one of toyota's factory race teams or tuners? Ala STI? It's probable that the twincharged model won't become a production car, but a showcase for what the factory can do, like Prodrive's P2.

Anyways subaru has already confirmed a turbocharged BRZ engine:

Would it be sacrilegious to say this thing is the SVX 2.0 ?

It does look appealing. I saw one the other day, and I liked it. Although I must admit, at first I thought it was a Hyundai genesis coupe thing (whatever the hell those things are). My excuse is it was flashing by in the other direction and I had to head-turn quickly while changing lanes.

Anyways, they may have got it right to go after the 2+2 market for the zillions of people like me who'd love to have a 911 or something like that in the garage, but simply don't want to spend the loot on one. Maybe gain more car enthuisiats by having a fundamentally sporty RWD coupe instead of the drivel that is going on today ("sporty" sedans with V6's and maybe a set of wheels or an intake on it?). Bottom line is that someone is going to be able to make a turbo mod stage for this sucker, and quick. If Subie doesn't do it first, foremost, and en masse -- someone else is going to jump on that for mass production.

I'm sure they really wanted to target weight balance/distribution, coupled with the low weight -- ala Miata but still has a lot more gusto. Keeping that balance for the most part and adding a turbo, maybe minor suspension or tire/wheel upgrades, for under $10K+ car, holy chit snacks. Under $40K and a real peach.

I say 'no' to the SVX 2.0 notion.

The SVX is/was a Grand Tourer. Probably still the best Grand Tourer that Subaru ever produced.

The BRX is pure sports car. Probably the best (only?) sports car Subaru has produced.

I am calling it now, 2 years and there will be a WRX or STi version. There is no way they wouldn't turbo from factory in a few years. If they dont then it probably wont be hanging around.
