Eletrical boost gauge install?

Post by alexandermf »

Need some help. Just picked up an autometer electrical boost gauge for a good deal and the guy said it plugs into the stock map sensor for reading vs an eletrical sender and some vac hose. I've only had a prosport eletrical which had a sender unit and utilized vac for reading. And I've had a mechanical where it's just a straight hose from gauge to vac Anyone have a clue where this would hook into without any other equipment. Dude said it has everything ready for install, just never seen one like this

I'd look it up on the AutoMeter website and see if you can find the installation manual.

An Electrical sender will have a separate unit that reads the vac, and sends a signal to the gauge. Meaning there is no vac line that plugs into the actual gauge, typically it's a little sender box. I've NEVER heard of the gauge wiring into a map sensor or anything... Did he include anything else with your gauge?

Nothing else included. I thought there's usually a separate sending unit as well. Not according to him. Maybe I got stiffed, seemed legit lol. I'll prolly just sell it and get a new one with everything

The dude is wrong.....you need the corresponding pressure sensor that came with the gauge for it to work correctly.

Yeah he was probably just blowing smoke up your ass so you'd buy it. Unless you get the sending unit, the gauge is a paperweight.
