Turbo Oil Drain on old EJ22E - NA/T

OTHER than tapping the oil pan, I've read about adding an oil drain to the newer Phase 2 SOHC valve covers (VC) and the DOHC VC, but not the older school EJ22E VCs.

I got a VC in a parts trade that had a fitting mounted on the side but it hit the valve train when installed.

I'm wanting to know if mounting it low on the VC between the valve assemble HLAs makes sense using a RIGHT-Angle barb fitting?

Any issues with the oil draining back into that spot of the head? Wondering if the VC gasket might be prone to leaking, too.

Hopefully there's enough space between the frame and the VC in that area.

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks

If fitment/interference isn't an issue I suppose you could do that. Typically it's the valve cover grommets that fail not necessarily the gasket so you should be ok there.
