Was wondering what would cause the drivers side cam seal on a sohc 2.2na blow out?

Blow out as in fail or blow out as in actually push out of the bore?

It's only gonna come out of the bore if there's pressure behind it. Usually that involves ancillary turbo plumbing sending pressure into the crankcase or tons of blowby.

If the seal just failed it's probably a result of age or sitting for a long time then getting used. Or you cam is moving all over the place and the seal can't take it.

Legitimately it blew out of the bore. I had a spare sitting around so I smeared some of the black right stuff on the outside of the ring and pushed it into place then wiped all excess off. Hopefully it stays inn there this time but yeah I was just really curious as to what could cause it to pop out like that.

Also forgive me for asking but what do you mean by blow-by?

In addition to what's been said, are you sure you have the correct seal for the cam?
