Anyone ever see the wiper motor do this before?

So I pulled apart my non-working wiper motor to re-grease it when replacing the already burned out motor (turns out the switch was also F-ed up and in retrospect I should have just bout a $120 reman) and I found that all the grease had turned to something thicker than pumkin pie but thinner than skippy peanut butter. I took the heat gun to the grease from the '97 gearbox that donated the motor and it liquefied so the heat wasn't what done it.
