The DP will bolt up to the turbo fine. I don't know about after the DP. There won't be an O2 bung at the top. I think they're only like 2.5" at the most. And the ebay coffee cans sound just fine.

My friend, "92whitelegacy" put pretty much the same set-up in his car. I remember him having problems too. I think all it was, was a leaking intercooler hose. I don't remember if it caused a knock sensor code or not though.

This just happened to my friends legacy. His skipped because the rubber dust seal on the plastic timing cover behind the cam gear came off and got in between the belt and the gear.
If that was was what happened in your case you'd probably notice cunks of torn seal inside the covers.

That seems like a good plan. You can't beat the EJ22 turbo block tho... I want to eventually import one and throw the ej22's bottom end in.
