Re: College ej22t daily
What do you mean by "options for the engines?" Do you mean forged pistons and forged rods, or? Any 5 speed that came attached to an ej engine will work, and you pick a clutch that matches that transmission. Your car should have a final drive of 3.9, so grab the diff with the new transmiss...

Re: College ej22t daily
Thanks, that's the plan! What bout options for engines? What is a direct swap to a 5 spd.

Re: College ej22t daily
I feel your pain because I was in college when I built my first SS. I would recommend buying a beater for a daily driver, and relegating the SS to your fun car. They are awesome but *not reliable* at 25 years old, and are enormous money pits. I think I am on my 5th engine in my current 1992, though...

College ej22t daily
I bought an 1992 ej22t legacy sport sedan for $2500. I know its alot, but i pretty much bought it on impulse as my first car. I replaced the turbo (vf11 from a good guy candian, I'm sure you'll see this post) and re routed a bunch of vacuum lines. The car is rough, but it apparently has 60k miles on...

Re: In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
It sounds like your idle air control valve is stuck open or malfunctioning in some way. What he said. Have you tried unplugging the electrical connector from the IAC valve to see if the behavior is different or if the idle stays at 2,000 rpm? No, i havent thought of unplugging the iacv yet. Ill try...

Re: In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
Your post is not clear, which is I asked the question about the issues/symptoms occurring when the hose is not kinked. Do these symptoms occur with the IAC hose kinked or not kinked? My symptoms are.... car idles at 1500 when warm and barly idles at 500 when cold. I need to constantly pulse the thr...

Re: In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
Welcome to the BBS. Why is/are you kinking the hose going to the idle air control valve? That would likely explain why the idle is poor. When the hose is not kinked at all, the engine will start, idle at 2k, and stay where it was reved to. If i didnt kink it, i would have multiple issues on the roa...

Re: In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
The low idle when cold sounds like a coolant temp sensor. Start with that, easy to test. There's one for the gauge and one for the ECU, you'll want to test/replace the latter (2-wire). Ill try to check/replace it when i get payed next. I kind of spent all of my money on car parts when i bought it. ...

Re: In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
Ps, when the hose is fully kinked it idles at a normal 750 rpm. Oh, and here's a better pic of the bay.

In desperate need of help (92 legacy sport [stock])
Ok, so i recently bought a 1992 subaru legacy sport with a 5 speed. It runs and drives, but not smoothly. I am getting error codes 42 and 35. Tps (which i just replaced) and i assume mas. My symptoms are.... car idles at 1500 when warm and barly idles at 500 when cold. I need to constantly pulse the...
