91 automatic torque binding

Torque binding!! So should I just replace the solenoid in the back of the trans? Or should I just rebuild it (it's got 240k on it) or swap it out with a different auto. She is my work vehicle and my daily... Just need some opinions now. I want to replace it myself but it looks like a pain bc I'd be ...

Continues tail lights won't stay on.

So my 1991 legacy LS wagon has just recently starting on Friday morning, been blowing the fuses to what the fuse box calls "clearance lights". And I know there is a short somewhere inside the car. I've been having trouble finding it and I was wondering if any of you had any wiring diagrams...

Re: H/O alternator help? Please

Update. I found a company that makes a drop in 140 for the legacy. It's from qualitypowerauto.com and I haven't ordered it yet. Planning to buy an XS battery and a ton of wiring with it for all the extra grounding needed.

Need advice on rebuilding ej22

So my engine is slowing down. I have a 1991 legacy LS wagon. Recently gas mileage has gone down the drain and I know for an old engine with 235k+ miles on it, it needs some things. Anyway I want to take it out and rebuild it entirely. I want to know if theres anything I can replace when Everythings ...

Re: New decent pads and rotors.

I also think my shoes are getting old and starting to stick. Because when I wash the car and spray the wheels off, once I start driving my brakes seem to come on a lot quicker than when the car is dry. Should I change my shoes as well or at least lube up the piston inside? Sent from my Z983 using Ta...

New decent pads and rotors.

Hey guys I have 91 legacy wagon LS trim. Brakes are getting pretty low and I just wanted to upgrade the pads mainly. Maybe bran new rotors depending on price. What would most of you guys personally put on your car? I'm not sure as what to choose. I really want my good brake feeling back again. Pleas...

Re: H/O alternator help? Please

A capacitor would help out a little bit for split seconds but most of them would practically be useless and kinda slow down my electrical draw. I might just add another small battery to the car for the extra electronics I have for it. Do you know if a 140amp wrx alternator would fit? I would be just...

Re: H/O alternator help? Please

Damn. It's kinda hard finding good info on decent alternators. I'm not scared of splicing I just didn't want to do it. Would you recommend a certain one? I'm sure I can get away with a 140 or 160

H/O alternator help? Please

Hey guys. I'm in need of a new alternator. The one I have now works fine but with the electrical draw I'm currently taking and plan to take in the future is killing this thing slowly and I know it. So I believe I can get away with a 140 maybe 160 with an extra battery and upgraded wires all the way ...

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

I did do the timing belt but it was at bad timing lol. The cars belt jumped as I was getting on the freeway so I towed it home and worked all night until I got the thing to start. All I did is buy a new belt. I didn't do the water pump or the rollers...i should have but money was tight then. I won't...

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

It has newer spark plugs up from January, and I also did the timing belt at the same time myself which was a bitch to figure out the teeth at first. I have to take the timing belt back off again don't I? My girl friend has an extra car I can use for the couple days if I don't get it done on the week...

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

So just how much of a mess am I getting myself into? Everything looks pretty straight forward as taking everything off goes. Just don't mix anything up. Can I get it done in a couple hours? And what should I clean while it's all open? Any more tips anyone? This will be my first ej22 teardown and she...

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

Okay. If the job of changing them is easy enough than I just might do it myself. Is there anything major to watch out for when doing it like little pieces that spring out or might need to be scrubbed clean while I'm in there? Or anything else that's worth changing out while it's all open? Think I mi...

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

If I just do the Headgaskets which kit should I buy? And when I do this should I go ahead and replace all cylinder heads just because I know it's leaking? It already has new spark plugs timing belt filter all done by myself and kept up well on oil. But I don't have an engine hoist to pull the engine...

Lol and watch the engine go boom after I know my Headgaskets are bad. I'll do that when I have another ej22 in my hands first [emoji114]

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

And if I buy a new engine can it be any 2.2? Or better yet a 2.5 with good heads if I can find one?

Re: White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

Okay. I might look into replacing the engine altogether. It has 230k now and has original engine and I'm sure the Headgaskets sere only changed once before hand. Do you maybe know of any high compression engines that are around so I could a little more power out of it? Or should I just stick to the ...

White smoke at higher RPM...advice please?

So I have a 91 Subaru Legacy Wagon LS and it runs great. Doesn't feel like any lower loss trans is fine. So the white smoke isn't a lot and I already know I have a blown Headgasket. But my question is should I just replace the engine altogether, just do the Headgaskets and maybe new heads? I would h...
